Hello and Merry Christmas! I wanted to share my recent purchase, an early model EAA Witness in 45 acp. The gun is all steel and has a full size frame. It also features a decocker rather than a thumb safety. I have searched online and have not found an earlier example of an EAA Witness. I've read that these guns went into production in 1997. According to the EAA website this one was imported to the US in December 1998. I paid $375 for the gun (plus a hefty $40 shipping and $32 FFL transfer fee), which was about the cheapest I could find a nice full size all steel 45. This is my first 45. I've put 100 rounds through it at the range and I just love it. The recoil is just slightly heavier than my Beretta 92s 9mm (which I brought along for comparison). There are no signs of cracking on the slide or frame, something that I've read has been an issue for some. For now this specimen will serve double duty as a range toy and as my nightstand gun. Has anyone else had experience with an early model Witness? What are your thoughts?
