Ok fellas I’m going to steal my own idea for this thread

What are your RELOADING GOALS FOR 2020?

Some of mine are .....

1. Buy something reloading related every week
2. Get organized
3. Start logging down every load asap
4.spend more time doing it
5. Enjoy it more (the time I get to reload that is)

2020, year of sub sonics and silencers.
Develop a probably 62gr 5.7x28 subsonic round that will cycle an FN pistol.
Develop a 115gr subsonic 380 carbine round in the std to low +p range (not intended for hand gun use).
Develop a 147gr HP 9x19mm subsonic carbine and pistol round, as almost all 115gr is super sonic out of a pistol and all 124gr will be way super sonic out of carbine, if not the pistol too.
I have bought a gemtech SFN for the fiveseven pistol, probably got about 9 months more wait till its actually mine, so plety of time to cook up a load on that one.

I guess my #1 goal is to get a stock pile built up of bullets, primers, and powders. #2 is to get started reloading .30-30 Winchester. If I am successful with completing #1, #2 will happen soon after. LOL

3. Start logging down every load asap

Your list is good but this should be #1 and should have been happening all along.

Record keeping is important to know what you have done in reloading in the past and what to do in reloading in the future.

I plan to...

1. Straighten up my reloading room. I've not been reloading much the last year or so and the room has gotten a bit disheveled.

2. Cast bullets and work up loads for my 38 Super Colt NM Gold Cup.

3. Load more shot shells (12, 20, 28 ga and. .410 bore) so that I can shoot more skeet. The shot nloads I like to shoot are not readily available commercially.

4. Finally work up loads for my new prairie dog rifle chambered in 22 Bench Rest.

1. Develop a better system for tracking state of in-process brass. I’ve inconsistent with what state my brass is. My goal is to decap and resize before tumbling, then prime and expand sorted headstamps.
2. Restock components- had to miss ALL the good sales due to cash-flow issues, and gift prioritization. Strange that wifey let me buy a new Micro 380, but wouldn’t allow any component purchases. Thankfully, a new year begins, and a whole new budget year.
3. Start loading 38Spl/357 Mag - have everything on hand, just need to clean dies and get started.
4. Shoot more - so I can load more.

1. Finish setting up the dies on the 650. I have consistent COL but the dummy rounds aren't fitting the case gauge. With family in town I haven't had time to focus on the taper die.
2. Start reloading.

# 1 - Inventory brass and cast bullets (I know for powders and primers)
# 2 - Make sure to have on hand at least 500 rounds of reloads in usual target calibers of 38 special, 45 Colt, 45 acp, and 44 special so I can grab and go when range time is available
# 3 - Do more reloading with cast bullets in rifle cartridges, especially for my mil-surp bolt actions

am new so, figure out reloading process for .38 Special … get old Herter's press mounted … make some rounds and actually shoot them. get to range more once some range loads are developed. if things go well, might also like to work up a target load for 30-30, have a Winchester 94 and the dies to do it, so - might like to figure out some really light loads just to get some enjoyment out of using the 30-30. Is a little ridiculous to shoot the thing at an indoor pistol range IMHO, but - hey - if I was reloading and keeping costs down, and had a load that was good for this, might be worth it.

Hi...
Lots of goals for 2020 on the reloading/shooting front.
I have a couple of Dillon 550s I bought at auction to get running. One will be dedicated to large primer for reloading large batches of big bore revolver cartridges, .41Mag, .44Mag and .45Colt. I already have two Hornady LnLs set up in small primer for 9mm and .357Mag and large primer for 10mm and .45ACP.
Not sure what I will do with the second Dillon...I may end up selling it if I can't find a spot for it on one of my benches.

Definitely need to increase my inventory of cast bullets. I don't cast my own but I have been buying somewhere around a few thousand every 4-6 weeks but can't seem to stay ahead of our consumption rate.

Always stockpiling primers and powder.
Indeed to increase my supply of brass considerably. I have many thousands of 9mm, .38Spl, .45ACP and .357Mag. but, I would like to acquire at least a thousand each of .41Mag, .,44Mag, .45Colt, .44Spl and .45AutoRim to add to my current supply.
Always looking for more brass for my .375SuperMag as well.

Need to continue to expand powder selection and experimentation with rifle cartridges across the spectrum from .223 through 7mm Mag. My son has a brand new chronograph and Caldwell Lead Sled to assist in that endeavor.

Looking to add a few lever action carbines in pistol calibers and just maybe .45/70 or .444Marlin.

So...lots of projects and plans. Going to be another busy year on the reloading and shooting front.
Retirement is hard work!!!

Ny number one goal is to get my reloading/gun room more organized. I have to build a powder storage cabmet and a primer storage cabenet.

#2 is to stock up on primers and powders.

#3 is to load up a thousand rounds of the calibers I shoot with my grandson.

#4 is to buy a Hornady progressive press and get it set up for 223, 38spl, 357, 44spl, 44mag maybexa couple of other calibers.

Clean my room. Need to get out for some serious plinking this year to use up a bunch of random odds and ends for offhand practice. Other than that, keep doing what I'm doing. Got all my loads for all my purposes pretty well dialed in. Reloading has become rather boring for me, which is a good thing as I can concentrate my limited time on shooting better.

Forgot one big one...setup and figure out my shot maker system. This one will wait until warmer weather, probably in conjunction with processing maple syrup as I have lots of free time during spring thaw when we can't move the drill rig on most roads.

I’ve been thinking quite a bit the last ~18hrs about @horsemen61’s question - what are your reloading goals for 2020. Since I only reload to facilitate shooting, most of my goal-setting is focused on shooting, not reloading. I also wouldn’t have really considered a “schitt I want to buy this year” list to be “goals,” but I suppose that’s a lot easier to define than my actual reloading goals - my big ticket for this season is swapping my home-brew induction annealer with an AMP + and AMP Mate. I’d also like to add another A&D + AutoThrow & Trickle set up, but it’s less critical. Next season will likely see a big financial restructuring of my reloading arrangement as we move into the new space.

For actual reloading goals for 2020, the only thing which comes to mind is challenging myself to reload for matches in a more responsible and timely manner. I often end up pressing bullets until midnight on the night before each match, meaning I’m not bedding until 1-2am after cleaning up and packing the rest of my gear. I’m a night owl, but this is a little later than it should be.

For all of us, a reminder about goal-setting: setting SMART goals will improve your odds of actual accomplishment.

• S - Specific: exactly what you want, break down specific ways to improve, not just “do better”

• M - Measurable: exactly how much you want; “5 more,” not just “more”

• A - Attainable: be realistic with yourself, given the time and resources available

• R - Relevant: ensure the specific goal is important to you and your overall vision to guide your resource and time allocation

• T - Time Bound: set boundaries for completion of measurable action steps to attain your specific goal by a given date

Try to Unload more so I can reload more! Because of different medical related incidents the wife and I didn't get to shoot much this past year. Hopefully 2020 will show a big improvement in that.

Nothing to change here, same ole same ole...... pushing the envelope on accuracy, precision, velocity, and lethality of my cast bullet bolt guns.

Need a cpl more aftermarket triggers and could use a little better $$ optics here and there. Possibly get into some steel shooting by investing in some of that AR500? steel plates. The loading room and full on machine shop is well kept, clean, and fully supported.

In general, looking forward to another productive year.

Shoot more so I can reload. I load for 20 calibers and at the present time I don't have anything reloading related to do, all my brass is prepped and I sure as heck don't need anymore loaded ammo or cast bullets until I shoot up a few rounds.

I have been buying all of my favorite powders for almost a year.
I have also been buying primers.

My goal is to reload more next year instead of complaining about what I don't have.

I won't be caught without Varget, H1000, Trail Boss, 215M's etc. etc. etc. again for a long time.

I have also been trying to stock up on bullets.
They aren't getting any cheaper as the days go by.

It really sucks to have a bunch of fancy-shmancy gear and nothing to run through it!!!

Building a new house so my #1 goal is to actually get the reloading room set up and get started in reloading again. Still a few months before move-in then there will be hundreds of "honey do's" to get done. I'll be lucky to have a room built and be reloading again by Christmas.
