Oddball advertisement .... the description doesn't match the photo. .36 1860 Army?

Also, square back triggerguard? Is that historically accurate? Nice looking gun though.

No, it doesn't and No, the TG can be changed out for a round one from Uberti.

Part of Dr. Jim L. Davis' collection.

I figured the cylinder would stand out most of all. Very few of these were made by Colt (I believe less than 100) because it left very little steel at the rear of the cylinder. Afterward, Colt only made semi-fluted or non-fluted cylinders.

Rarely found on modern replicas.

The ASM 1851 and 1860 have rare factory Colt addressed barrels. These are usually premium quality revolvers. I have one of the 1851s and two of the 1860s already or I would have snatched them up!!!

Interesting looking piece. It looks like you would not want your bolt coming up too early on the full-length fluted cylinders.

Thanks Expat! I ordered it. I can remember going to the Davis Museum in Claremore, OK with my dad when I was a kid so I was glad to get it. Been wanting an 1861 anyway to go with my Uberti 1860 Army and an 1862 Pocket Police. I can't tell until I see the date code but given it is Replica Arms from Marietta, I am guessing it dates from around 1970 or so.

gec,

Good for you! I noticed that someone had bought it when I checked the OC site this morning.

Keep an eye on the Dr. Davis link on the site as they seem to put out a few more guns every day!

Jim

I have a pair of full fluted 1861s made for Replica Arms in Marietta, Ohio. One has the round guard the other has the squared guard. I bought them to replace the originals I had been using in competitions.

The pistol came today! I had not dealt with October Country before but they were a pleasure to deal with. The pistol was very well packed and arrived in good shape. It was in a cloth pistol bag inside all the other packaging.

I did not have much time to look at it before work. Date code of xxvi would be 1970. Appears unfired as advertised and no box. Timing and lockup are spot on but it has a short arbor. Cylinder gap is wedge shaped instead of straight. Nice bluing and vivid case hardening colors. Action is a bit rough. More and photos when I get home from work but so far I'm a happy camper.

Here you go Expat. It is no longer unfired. The action was rougher than my newer Uberti Navy, but it hits fairly close to the sights. The picture is a 10 o'clock hold at ten yards. 22 grains Goex 3F.
