Virginia governor’s call for 18- officer gun ban enforcement team comes under fire

I wouldn't want to be part of such a force and immediately identified as such. The governor has little sense for the practical implications of such.

He can find 18 people, who will go door to door, to enforce this ban, throughout the entire state ? Talk about high risk job...

Guess we’ll see how much support he has with the law enforcement community.

Maybe one man at $4,800,000.00 that year is possible. But if the State needs to rehire 365 times a year I can see where it might get prohibitively expensive.

-Not as stupid as when Clinton was going to hire Chinese Communist cops to do the same job on the national level... .

If you step back and look, the VA governor is actually helping the gun rights/2A cause.

I am guessing this is only helping gun sales, ammunition/gun related industry revenue, donations to pro gun/2A organizations, pushing for more 2A sanctuary cities/counties, bringing gun owners together and accentuating their resolve to vote in future pro gun/2A law makers, etc. etc.

I really believe the founders/framers later added the 2A after realizing 1A won't be maintained without the 2A.

So attack on 2A is really an attack on 1A and the rest of the 27 amendments.

Gov. Northam is setting this state up for a disastrous fate. The man scares me. He is inciting a potential carnage of grave results. I truly believe he wants to see this explode leading to tragedy.This whole movement by him is about power. He wants to use this carnage to make himself known and emerge as some kind of new leader. A revolution of some sorts. Every thing he does now seems to be snowballing with more threats, threats of force and violence. More gun free Zones (sitting duck zones) just like the one in Virginia Beach. Disarm the law abiding citizen, tear down the constitution.
We have seen through history this same thing happen in Germany. Same play book. And this is only the Beginning.

No. Germany did not have our Second Amendment. Nor did UK, Australia, New Zealand ...

I was not referring to just the Second Amendment when referencing Germany. Northam is just using the amemdment as one tool. If it was not that, it would be something else.

We all know any such unit will have a high casualty rate. I suspect this is by design. Lets hope the idiot in office backs down or the Supreme Court intervenes.

You know, FBI, DEA, ATF, ICE, etc. What, exactly, are these guys going to put on their vests and hats ? "OGS" for " Opression Goon Squad" ? "GGG" for "Governor's Gun Goons" ?
How about "BBB" for "Bloomberg's Ball Busters" ?

One way or another, one wonders how they came up with the number of 18 men. It doesn't seem near enough, to get the job done, in the same century in which they started.

I just don’t see 18 officers willing to go gestapo on Va’s citizens. If I’m wrong, then they seal their own fate. But I will be surprised if Northam lasts another couple years.

These 18 cover districts and put pressure on state police units to do their bidding.
If a trooper refuses they will be immediately fired and forfit their pensions and barred from any state jobs.

I don’t see this unit getting much resistance actually on the job.

It’s one thing to fight when you’re ready for it. It’s quite another to be woken up at 3am clad in nothing but underwear, surrounded by your terrified family and fight a heavy armed and armored SWAT team. Fighting off armed burglars is easy in comparison.

Now if a list of the individuals on this team circulates and they’re doxed then that’ll be a different matter. They’ll sustain casualties.

VA seems like a really poor choice of state to litmus test a "gun ban confiscation force"..... It will probably be very bad.
