Ruger LCP as a boot gun

Maybe better than a snub .38 because it will lay more flat but it still carries all the disadvantages of ankle or boot carry. Nothing inherently wrong with an lcp .380 for the purpose.

In a soft holster like a nemesis I don't see why it wouldn't work, and probably better than most options because it's so thin and light, although I don't personally like ankle carry (boot or holster). I can only speak to my gun but my LCP has been extremely reliable and I'm more accurate with it than I expected.

for simply carrying it concealed I don't see why not. for deployment while engaged in a physical fight good luck.

I'd just feel safer with another firearm on my person. I also want a light weight pistol to carry when I go for my nighttime walk, and in that case I'd carry it on my hip.

Hard to go lighter and slimmer and easier to carry for a reliable, shootable pistol IMO.

If you want to boot carry, IMO the LCP is an ideal choice.

Make sure you carry a stiletto or a straight razor in your other boot. ;)

Ratshooter

I thought Leroy had. 32 gun in pocket and a razor in his shoe.

Well we can always update the song to give Leroy an LCP as 1KPerDay suggested or else we can make it a KelTec P32 more in keeping with the original flavor of the song!

I bought a Ruger LCP in 380 when they first came out. Worst handgun I have ever bought. I hate it!!!
It works fine,,,BUT,,Its to small for my hand, uncomfortable, and the recoil is real snappy.

Don't get me wrong,,,I hunt with a .454 and a .44Mag so BIG recoil does not bother me. I just don't like the way it shoots.

I have owned several of the small 380s including the heavy little Davis autos and they have impressive recoil. The Taurus TCP I just got has a snappy recoil. On the other hand I have owned a couple of the slightly larger Titan 380 autos and they were a pleasure to shoot. Owned a couple of Titan 32acps and really wish I still had them. Those were nice. My bud has one of the FEG PA63 in 9x18 and I hate shooting that gun. So does he. We have both owned Makarovs and those weren't bad at all to shoot.

I don't see an issue with the boot... In a pants pocket or outside of a boot, neither will be quickly accessable.

I sometimes carry a NAA .22 mag revolver in my boot. I only do this when I going somewhere that a gun cannot been seen, even the print of it. Is it ideal? No. It's the most back up of a back up. It's basically volcano insurance for here in Indiana. However, it's something and it rides in a custom little leather and kydex holster that lashes to my inner boot. It can't fall out and draws like a reverse neck knife.

I do carry a Microtech in my other boot though. It's so light, i forget it's there. I actually find it less obtrusive and more useful than any knife I've carried in my boot before. 3 or 4 oz and sporting a 3.5" blade with a stiff push of a switch.

I look at boot carry as a very specific kind of carry. Escalation carry. You find yourself in a situation where you can't carry or didnt carry. Something escalates. Some one starts making a scene in Target or losing their temper violently at a restaurant. You aren't the target, but at least it's easier to get to the mouse gun you almost forgot about in your boot than the pistol in your glovebox while you figure out your plan.

Like I said, volcano insurance. In the infinitesimally small chance you might need your gun, having it tucked under your pant leg, in your boot is about as slow as keeping your frame in one pocket and your slide in the other and snapping them together. However, if you have the gun, the real estate in you boot, and want to, I suppose doesn't hurt.

I've heard of guys with knives and guns in their boot. Can't figure how it could be comfortable let alone accessible. I can see pocket but having something wearing a blister on my ankle sounds unmanageable. Maybe someone knows something I don't .

The OP says he wears cowboy boots so the boot carry would be at the top of the boot and not near the ankle. Anyone remember when Dusty Hill of the ZZ Top was carrying a derringer in his boot and dropped it and shot himself in the stomach?

Does this method use a holster that's attached to the leg? Otherwise I just couldn't see it staying put. I've worn cowboy boots in the past but I can't see there being much retention without an ankle holster to keep it all in place.
