I stopped of at a pawn shop today just to have a look at what kind of guns the had. There wasn’t much that I wanted to look at, but then I saw a plastic tub sitting on the shelf behind the counter, full of knives.
I asked about the knives and was told that it was just old junk knives. I asked to have a look and the tub placed on the counter for me to root around in.
There were a bunch of junk knives but I pulled two out and asked what he wanted for them. He said he would take $30. I said deal.
This is what I got. A Gerber 06 Fast Tanto and a CRKT M21-02.
I would have to say that I did pretty good.

I actually have that same model Gerber, it’s actually a decent knife.

Pawn shop owner must have a different idea of what junk knives are.

Seems to me that anyone deployed overseas in harm’s way could sure use a few used knives for gifts to locals that go out of their way to assist...

Nice!

Most of the shops around me that have knives have the super cheapo Chinese Spyderco knock offs for sale. Rare to see a brand-name knife get the junk-bin treatment.

Stays afe.

I've picked up an old beater from the "bargain box" at a pawn shop. $10.

It's an old, very well used, very sharp, EKA / Normark Super Swede.

Over the last seven years or so its become one of my favorite and most reliable carries.

I thought I was bad, buying so many knives.
Got two more Kershaws enroute as I write. Those Tantos are nice, but that CRKT spear point really speaks to me. Nice dealing, Gunny!

This post just keeps reminding me of the one knife I have bought at a pawn shop. It sure enough wasn’t in the junk bin, but it’s one of only two I have actually stumbled across in my life. The first was my grandfathers wedding day gift to my grandmother. The second was one I found in a pawn shop. Pearl handled 2 blade CaseXX pen knife. It was still in the velvet snap case. When granddaddy passed I got his knife (Grandmas wedding gift to him). When grandma passed, Dad ended up with her knife. We traded my pawn shop find for her knife and they are now kept together as a set. I need to frame them and put them on display, but I hate to do it. I still carry the knives on each of their respective birthdays, and both on their anniversary.

I sent the Air Ranger and one of the 06 FAST knives to a friend of. She really likes the Air Range, but said that the 06 FAST will be her EDC.
Yesterday my daughter stopped by to visit. While we were in my shop she saw the two CRKT knives sitting on my bench. She was admiring the M16-10KS when I asked if she needed a knife. She said that she still carries a knife every day and that she really liked the M16. I told her that she could have it.

I cleaned up the CRKT M21-02 and put it in my tool cabinet.
I have started carrying the other 06 FAST as my EDC. I made a short lanyard for it too.
