The RUGER OLD ARMY Club

Here's one of those black box ROA. Never seen one with a lock before. Maybe this is gray too...lol.

I take it that's not your's? It looks like it could be black but then again it could be dark gray. I guess I'll have to take a picture of a gray box next to a black box...LOL. But, I was also wondering if there's such a thing as a ROA that came in a black box with a "Special Edition" sticker on the box. Was thinking that perhap TALO or Davidson's may have had such an animal to sell at one time.

The only thing special from what I can tell is that they are NIB and available....that, and a red medallion instead of the black eagle. Black eagle would look better on that gun IMHO. BTW, the locks came with the "newer" ones.

I found the real TALO ROA.... Never seen one though. The ones on gun broker obviously are wrong...lol.. The guy who posted this says he seen this on the TALO site back in the day but never seen one for real..

Yup, that's one of several TALO exclusives. There are other's similar to the one with the red eagle grips....that one is real just different.

Seems weird to me that TALO would do an exclusive with nothing I can see but a red medallion. Their website shows nothing but stuff in line with the horse pistol above.. Beautiful stuff..

I believe that's the last run of ROA's that were made around 2017 which was well after they were discontinued and was the reason for the high prices.
It was discussed in this thread titled "Return of the Old Army" --->>> https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/return-of-the-old-army.841382/#post-11147845

They were available from several vendors but one distributor was selling many of them around 2017 -2018.
The factory acknowledged their later build date by their serial numbers.
Here's an example from another product page: --->>> http://tooeleshootingsupply.com/sho...5-barrel-stainless-talo-exclusive-ruger-1406/

Clembert had previously mentioned that Talo sells special runs and close outs that Ruger possibly made from left over or spare parts. --->>> https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/the-ruger-old-army-club.538088/page-122#post-10862149

Most likely they're probably from the TALO offering from 2017. Likely, just some leftover Ruger parts to get them out of the way in the factory but a "TALO exclusive" with the red medallion. As I understand it, TALO deals with limited edition, close-out buys, exclusive runs of firearms.

I found the Talo ROA topic also discussed on pages 116 & 122 of this Ruger Old Army Club thread by doing an advanced search for Talo and specifying the black powder forum.

Yeah I noticed the 147- serial number range on all of them.. Looking at those prices I guess I got a pretty good deal at 700 for my SS ROA...

I did notice that Iron Sight posted that he called Ruger about his gun and they said it was not a TALO gun but it has a red medallion.. Who cares though really...lol. I am just glad I got one...lol

Thats really nice. I have a NAA Companion mag and want those grips..lol. . I call it L. Chance...lol and carry it bicycling or when I go to big stores.. I load it with bullseye so its quite potent. I have been tryin to come up with a rear sight for it but I am afraid of messing with the tiny thing...lol..
Yeah I really like them. Found them on flea bay. Really makes the gun. One day I’ll get a pair for one of my Old Army’s

Looking for advice. I'm looking to get a conical mold for my ROA,but several of the recommendations in the back string of the forum are not showing up in searches for current molds available for sale.

I'm looking for something in the 200-225 range, this seems to be about max for it to clear the loader on an ROA. I know the recommended size for conicals is .454,but I've seen recommendations for .457 using a remote loader to press it in.

Anyways, the one I'm looking at is .456,220 grain Lee. My question is,will this be able to be pressed in with the stock loader, or is there another mold I am missing that would be better. Try not to break my bank!

I've shot quite a few of these.

I bought the mold for my Hawken rifle but I just had to try a few in the Ruger. I like 'em.
