I've been looking for a particular gun that is common and not rare recently but noticed a lot more of them on Gunbroker than Gunsamerica.

Is there a reason for that?

Is Gunbroker more popular than Gunsamerica?

Is there any other online site like these?

Until now I had never heard of guns America although I've bought fron gunbroker a few times. That may be why. I hear about gunbroker at work pretty much daily but never gunsamerica. I'll check them out though. I'm assumingit's similar?

I believe it is a general consensus that sellers get higher prices for items on GB. Therefore more sellers on GB. Therefore more serious buyers looking on GB.

From my perspective as a buyer, the prior "look and feel" of Gunbroker.com with its checkoff system of various steps of a transaction had a lot going for it that Guns America, Armslist and Gun Auction lack. Plus Guns America and Armslist are fixed listing price classified ads (negotiations are always possible) vs the primarily auction environment of Gunbroker and Gun Auction.

I've found that if you use the underlying search language for the particular search engines, you get more accurate results.
Advanced commands for google can improve your searches, https://www.lifewire.com/advanced-google-search-3482174
and for Bing https://www.lifewire.com/bing-advanced-search-3482817

Google is decent on some types of searches, not so much on others, and you get a similar good in some areas but not in others from Bing.

Political or controversial news, you get a lot more manipulated (on purpose) search results from Google than Bing, image searches are better on Bing, you want information on non-controversial issues or boring stuff, Google can often be better than Bing. I've found Bing maps more accurate than Google's map function.

That being said, DuckDuckGo uses google but doesn't let Google manipulate the searches "for your interests" directly. There is also a French search engine Qwant that is actually quite good and equal to DuckDuckGo. There are also some websites and apps that search multiple engines at the same time. Occasionally, I will use Google Scholar for some searches. And here is a list of very specialized searches, https://www.rankred.com/advanced-alternative-search-engines/ and updated list https://www.zerodollartips.com/best-search-engines-in-the-world/

BTW, DuckDuckGo was used to provide these website links.

Gun Auction used to be AuctionArms (try to go to auctionarms.com and it will redirect). I used both it and Gunbroker when they were new. Gunbroker got the interface right and pulled away from AA. I think AA relaunched as Gun Auction when they realized they were lagging. But like any network driven site, size and volume become competitive advantages that are hard to beat.

Interestingly, I believe Gunbroker really took off when ebay decided to ban guns. GB had a platform in place and caught all the disaffected ebayers. Ebay subsequently realized their mistake in banning all gun-related stuff and once again allowed parts and accessories which IIRC they once banned along with the guns.

When I was more active acquiring stuff from auction sites, there were complaints about shill bidders on AuctionArms and some other stuff that I can't remember the details of. GunAmerica has always been focused on FFL sellers and some of those have active imaginations about the value of some firearms.

Guns America used to be the biggest, better search, and many other useful things. Gunbroker was weird.

My recollection is that long ago, GA got all stupid. Go there. Try it today to see. That giant popup, then more flyouts, and full of advertising, and pushing local search (even if no results)and accessories (high margin... my guess), to push their blog posts, to cross promote to whatever, and performance got bad with all that junk. At least for me, that's why GB with it's simple focus slowly took over starting long, long ago.

I think it is the ease of navigation begets increased traffic, begets more consumers, begets increased revenue, all driven by us...the gun people.

I'm dealing with what's become a capricious seller on Gun Auction currently for some vintage Norma 7X64mm Brenneke factor ammo. Told me yesterday they now won't sell me thebitems even though I am the winning and only bidder for an auction that ended Dec 31 that they ignored my emails from Dec 31 until indefinitely I suppose. I reached out Mon and got messaged if I win the auction, they'll send me payment instructions - 7 calendar days and 4 of their shop business days later. It took three more days of back and forth to actually get confitmation on what they required for ID that I sent Dec 31, a photo of my Texas LTC, as proof of age and they had like zero clues it was now a week and a half agter the auction closed telling me I should have more patience because their shop was closed Jan 1. When I told them I would be happy to let a wider audience review and see both perspecyives, they told me that the aren't going to sell me the item. I'm opening a case with Gun Auction because typically a winning bid forms a contract between buyer and seller, and they want to treat it like some in-store counter sale. Wayyy out of touch.

I've never had this occur with any other seller on any other auction site - ever.

"GunsAmerica" has a lousy website design / function, and no matter what you search
for, you also get a lot of crap you don't want to see; they also charge more. I don't buy
"firearms" online, but I have sold several on GunBroker, and I liked it. I have bought
some "parts" and "accessories" at good prices (on GunBroker), but if you're looking
for good priced ammo, GunBroker and GunsAmerica are not the places to shop.

I think Gun Auction has a 10 minute rule somilar to Gunbroker's 15 minute rule. Not sure from experience as the few items I've purchased on Gun Auction, none had near end of auction challenging bids.

If someone bids inside 15 minutes of the scheduled end of the auction, the auction is automatically extended 15 minutes. It prevents sniping—putting in a higher bid just as the auction ends. Sort of like the “Going once, going twice...” at a live auction. The auction ends when there are no more bids, not when the time expires.
