Been after one of these for a hot minute, just wasn't willing to pay GB prices

This one came up locally. I usually find armslist to be a wast of time, but still peruse it on occasion. Once in awhile something decent that's not priced like solid gold does show up!

The rather scarce 3906 rounds out my XX06 centerfire collection. Now I just need a 2206!

Now I'm gonna make you guys really jealous :D

Ordered a spare barrel from Numrich Monday. I don't really have the time for personal projects, but I've been wanting to do this with a 3rd gen 9mm for awhile

The 17-4 H900 adapter is super thin, but the material has a 200,000 PSI tensile strength, so we can get away with such thin parts.

It's a really quiet host, and no noticeable blowback. Lovin' it!

Regardless the prices they are already getting, those early, all-metal S&W pistols are going to be a serious collector craze gun soon.

I'm already having trouble finding the three I want to keep up my Service Pistol competitors line-up and a Model 52 .38 Special.

Ever vigilant!

Fortunately, one is still able to scarf one up from time to time as it's not yet a *given* that they all have collector value.

Yours is a hell of a leap forward in collecting. Congratulations.

Todd.

All mine are just shooters, holster wear and scratches. But you have to love how they shoot.

Those should increase in value nicely.

LOVE the one with the 'can' on the front = but then I love the cans period on any gun [ yes even rifles ].

But as I was issued S&W 9 mm's and forced to carry one,I was and am not a fan of them.

Even sold off the 3 that I had gotten from my Department [ cheap ] ,the one's that I carried .

Proof that the plastic guns took over my enjoyment of packing & shooting.

I have a few 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Smith & Wesson pistols in my collection. The 2nd & 3rd generation stuff are icons of what some people refer to as the Wonder 9 years. Today I regret selling my 645 and the 10MM I had (the model number escapes me). At the time I’m sure I sold them because I wasn’t using them much and they were plentiful. The things we talk ourselves into, right? Gonna hold on to the ones I still have. Looking back, these pistols were the top of the market...the ones everyone wanted. Then SIG nudged them down a bit starting with the 226. Then the military adopted the Beretta 92. Then of course Glock showed up and the rest of the industry was sure late to the polymer party. Kind of strange the way the firearms market has evolved. I have some of all of this stuff today and appreciate them for what they represent but, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Smith & Wessons. The supply seems to be trailing off just a bit with some models. Wonder if mine will morph into the category that I call: Too valuable to shoot?

BTW. Nice pistols my friend!
