I finally own a revolver and it is glorious!

You're right. There's something natural about ejecting hot
brass into your hand a dropping it it a pocket for reloading.

Get yourself some speed strips to keep ammo organized. They're cheap and useful (yes, even for a single action).

One more bit of advice (take it or leave it)....
Splurge on a nice belt/holster rig of your choice...WITHOUT AMMO LOOPS....then ,18months down the road, when you decide you would like to try a blackhawk in .44, or .45colt...you just buy one with the same barrel length as your current gun and violà.! You're instantly set with a nice holster rig.

Solid advice on the "same barrel length and same belt."

Belt loops are cool, I use them, but most certainly limit the utility of the belt.

and keep your screws tight. great looking gun. they are sweet shooters. oh, and I put my pinky finger under the grip.

luck,

murf
Yep.

Pinky under, my dude.

I need to take a pic of my Blackhawk rig. I made my own and crafted a little (mostly decorative) cartridge holder that uses a Chicago screw to hold 6 .357 rounds around the mouth of the holster.

I usually take it off to cut down on bulk unless I'm feeling like a very garish cowboy. However, if I bought myself a .45 colt of the same length I could just make a new holder. Hmmmm. Now I've got the SA itch;)

Revolver more accurate than a Pistol?
I'm not sure I would agree with that.
More accurate for you I might agree with.

That said I shoot my DW M15 in SA Mode as well as I've ever shot a handgun.

the Flattop 357 Blackhawk is EXACTLY the gun I’m circling the wagons for...

back and forth between a S&W 586, a Cimarron Frontier ( for a Colt clone ) and the Flattop SS Blackhawk.

my old eyes need adjustable sights... and the Cowboy in me loves SA revolvers.. the Blackhawk has the edge...

plus the ability to use the 9mm cylinder seems a plus ..and - .38 /. 357 ... lots of options.. especially to reload custom recipes for all calibers...

Congratulations! :)

I am generally more accurate with my revolvers. It probably has something to do with my poor shooting habits. :)

You need to shop ATI's catalog and find something to buy.

They are a gun company that escaped from NY politics to relocate into... Summerville SC.

Congrats on the beginning of your wheelgun collection. Darn near impossible to stop at one.

Congrats on the acquisition. There really is something about loading, shooting, and unloading an SA that provides a lot of enjoyment. I almost don't like shooting pistols any more because of the bras scrounging. I have had revolvers for a long time, and always enjoyed them, but added a single action fairly recently (heritage .357). I can't believe it took me that long to get one, and I will definitely be adding on in .45LC in the not too distant future.

As mentioned, since you handload, get a box of speer (or equivalent) swagged HBWC to load over a light load of Bullseye.

Congrats on your new gun. Glad to hear you’re enjoying it so much.

Most of my handguns are revolvers. I just prefer them. A quality revolver is simple and supremely reliable.

PWGUNNY

One of my first single action revolvers was a full size Hawes Western Marshal in .22LR with a .22 Magnum cylinder. It was blued with white plastic grips (one of my favorite combos!). After this I had a Ruger Super Single Six .22LR/.22 Magnum, a Ruger Super Blackhawk, a Ruger New Model Single Six .32 H&R Magnum, a Ruger Bisley Single Six .32 H&R Magnum, and a Ruger Vaquero .44-40. Sold or traded away all of them as I became more interested in semi-autos.

Over the past 15 years or so I believe I have redeemed myself by acquiring an EMF Hartford Model ASM Colt replica SAA U. S. Cavalry Model, a Ruger Blackhawk .357 Magnum (3 screw model), a Ruger Flattop Blackhawk .44 Special, a Ruger Single Six .22LR/.22 Magnum (gift from a friend), a Ruger Vaquero .45 Colt (a gift from another friend), and a Beretta Stampede .45 Colt. Recently I have also been getting back into black powder revolvers to go with my Colt 3rd.Generation Model 1860. New wheelguns in the fold include a Pietta Remington New Model Navy, a Pietta Remington New Model Army, and another Pieta Colt Model 1860.

There's just something about single action revolvers...
