How Many 5.56 Mags Do You Have And Why?

I prefer PMAGs, but there are lots of great options. I don't know how many I have. I do know that I have more than a couple, but less than a couple hundred.

I have some for range use. Have some that stay loaded. Some extras...some stashed away for kids and grandkids...

New in the wrapper, they don't go bad...so spares are good when cheaply gotten.

I have 10 I use, 10 new unused. I only have 1 AR with no plans for another. The reserve 10 are for if they ever become unavailable. All matching pmags. I have been intending to buy more for reserve but haven't seen the deal I couldn't resist.

I have one AR and probably eight magazines. Why? Mainly because my wife loves that thing so I just load up the magazines before a range session so that she can shoot it while I shoot something I like. Not that she doesn’t load her own mags but I always stop what I am doing to help out..:D

Now, loathe as I am to contradict a learned man and educator, allow e to advance that buying just one magazine has a proximal certainty as of eating just one potato chip fro a fresh-opened bag.

I would submit the equation to be Σx+n n lim2..lim∞ [:)]
I believe he was saying "one more" in the concept of La penultima.
The next one until the last one... ;)

I've got 40+ and the vast majority are PMAGs and are still new in the wrapper.

Not by design, it's PSAs fault for throwing in 10 PMAGs with their Geissele trigger sales. Having a lot of mags does come in handy for carbine classes and 3Gun matches though. Funny thing about PMAGs is, although I treat them like any "Class IX" item, subject to wearing out, I've yet to break, or have one go bad.

I have enough that I don't know exactly how many I have. Why is a multitude of reasons I have several ARs 5 are 5.56 or wylde chambered and 2 300BO I use metal GI mags for 5.56 and pmags for BO. I have several different cases, a couple mag pouches and some ammo cans that all have mags in them.

there aren't many shooters who trust the government with any information that can be used against them.

Thats true but the guns I've bought new they know about. Even the ones I no longer have. Id rather they didn't but that's just the way of it. But Mags legitimately get thrown away if you use them. Especially in competition where they get dropped to the dirt or gravel. Granted most people dont wear them out But ive trashed plenty of mags for feed lip cracks, dings, or other issues.

must needs admit my bias in never buying just one magazine

In brick and mortar stores I have bought one many times. Especially in the bargain cave at cabelas. Online I can't say that I have ever bought one. Usually 5 or 10 packs. I have bought two once for an HK. And just those two was 100 bucks. Hence only buying two

I get that. Mind, my usual impetus is either being unique in some way, or the price point. So, unless there's a good reason (like there's only one on the shelf), I' going to buy as many as prudence dictates.

I could have easily bought ten from the vendor yesterday, but only after paying whatever "points" the atm machine would have hit e with; and I really didn't need ten. (Green Follower Okay's in Like New condition--those, I could use more of.) Vive le difference.

I keep 20 mags for my AR and same for my AK. Keep 5 loaded. Keep the rest in packs they came in. If and when a panic but starts. I will sell a few.

I keep at least enough magazines for two combat loads of 6 magazines in LBE/vest/carrier of your choice plus 1 in the rifle. To me that is a minimum to have. That being said, I do have more than that. Plus I make sure to keep some 10 and 20 round magazines for each rifle for hunting and bench shooting.

Being in the Army and specifically in engineer units (late 80's-90's), I have learned to keep plenty of spares of anything I will need in the field or deployed.

I came of age during the Clinton AWB and remember paying $70 for a Butler Creek Steel lips 3 round mag for my 10/22, and maybe half that apiece for a couple Hot Lips mags. So I have about eight 30 round AR mags that get regular use, and a couple-few 50 cal cans full of others still in their packaging. I've got a few 10 rounders that I find useful, so I'll probably get some more of those. I still haven't purchased any 20 rounders, though it's on the list of things to acquire.

Anytime I purchase something online that sells lancer mags or magpul I buy 2 mags. I've been doing this for years, I have a few mags stockpiled by now.

I’ve given up buying individual mags... set some $$ aside when you can and buy 10+ for savings. I consider 5 per gun to be the minimum and all the extras I leave in the packaging and store away. Whether to use, resell, pass on to friends or leave to my kids they will be worth every cent.

I only have 2 mags, a 5-rounder and a 10. I only have the Mini-14 at the moment.
