I gotta say, I'm pretty excited to see what this offering is all about.
Yesterday I went to the range and shot 400 rounds of 45 acp through two different guns. One was an HK45 and the other a Dan Wesson Classic Commander. I hadn't shot the HK45 for some time. Well, what I forgot is how that gun gives me a blister on my trigger finger due to the trough in the bottom of the trigger guard. It seriously pissed me off. Then I accidentally decocked it during a string of fire. I can tell I've been shooting 1911's and other SAO guns a lot. I didn't shoot it particularly well. I could accept that since I hadn't shot it for some time, but this was bad. My group at 20 yards looked like a pattern.
My Dan Wesson I was punching the center of the target out at 20 yards without a problem.
The problem with upgrading your collection with some finer guns is that you suddenly realize what steaming piles of crap you have been living with for years, and now the lesser gun almost start to piss you off. In fact polymer guns in general are falling out of my realm of interest.
I think yesterday made my decision for me. The HK is getting sold off, and it will likely help fund this CZC 10mm as a replacement, assuming it's actually a full gun and not just a conversion as some speculate. If it holds 15 rounds (I assume that's the number in order to compete with Tanfoglio) I'll have half again as much ammo on tap for home defense in a platform I know I'll shoot better. Time to see what other guns can go. Maybe my VP9 will go too.
I'd probably elect to cook up a light loading for home defense. You don't really need 10mm to stop a home invader.
