Believe it or not, I've seen one of those Brownings. It was probably three years ago, and there was a note on it that said, "Only serious buyers may handle this firearm" or something to that effect.

That's when I know I can't afford it. Hahaha

For me, until I can get a Luger p08, then it will never be complete. Seeing how they keep going up in price, looks like its going to be a long road ahead for me.

If I recall correctly, it was over $4k. My memory is kind of hazy, though, because there was a silver one and a gold one. It might have been like $5k.

The LGS has something like 6,000 firearms in stock, sometimes including Beretta shotguns that are over $20k. It truly is a sight to behold.

Thanks for the question! This thread and the other one about "Selling guns after passing" has caused me to think. No, not only haven't I finished my collection, but I seem to be adding to it more than ever. As a result I have guns in lay-away and guns that I've bid on in at least a dozen auctions all over the place. So, now I'm wondering what happens to those guns in lay-away and at any auctions I might win after I'm dead? Does my estate have to pay for them? How long do my heirs have to pay off these items? If I die and then win an auction on GB and my heirs don't get it paid off quickly, you think the seller will give me bad feedback? I guess now I'm going to have to keep a list of guns on lay-away and bids at auction so my heirs know what's still out there to be paid!

I'm in the pretty much done, but never say never camp at thisnpoint. There's nothing I'm actively pursuing but I'll keep my eyes open if something interesting cones along.

For example, my only 6.5mm rifle is a 26" barreled synthetic stock .264 Win Mag. But these days a 6.5X54mm Mannlicher Schoenauer seems far more interesting even though I'm not a reloader. Time will tell.

A true collector never "completes" his collection, but he does eventually reach the point of diminishing returns. For example, I would very much like to have an original Pedersen Device, but I can't justify the cost.

I would like to have a left-handed 257 Weatherby, and I would like to have a machine gun. Other than that I’m pretty well set. In fact I really need to sell some of the guns I bought just because they were bargains or that I was curious about.

And I might ought to get a Form 1 SBR stamp on another AR lower just in case I ruin my Colt somehow, but technically that’s not buying another gun. Oh, and I wouldn’t mind having another good 22 can...

Yeah, I've never been a collector of anything, life is simpler that way. lol

I have always referred to myself as an Accumulator, I''m nowhere near highbrow enough to fit the title of Collector. Thus, I honestly don't have a Collection, but rather an accumulation.

I have a safe full of guns and enough ammo to hold off a invading Chinese Army until reinforcements arrive, so I am done buying except for my last one which will be here around the first of May. I plan on retiring early 2021, and have a nice 1911 retirement gift to myself on order.

Nice, what are you going to get?

Having gone through about twenty three since 2007, which are no longer here, there's not much curiosity for other types. Can't justify the high price for an $1800 mostly German version of the semi-auto MP5, and don't think I could trust a Century C-93 ( "HK" in .223) to be reliable.

The only hope now is that the M&P .22 (full size) will be reliable again, whenever it returns from the gun smith.

Maybe I was lucky, other than finish. I hadn't heard of any serious problems of the Century C-93 so I kept my eye on Gunbroker and in 2016 I bought one of their C-93 pistols for $650. I decided that if it comes with a problems such as a ground down bolt head (this was done on some of the CETME's that Century produced, to give the illusion of proper head spacing) or if it had canted sights I'd just send it back and they could send me a new one ... back then they would email you a UPS return label.

I have a registered sear and so I wanted the pistol; they have the 10.5" HK-53 barrels. When I got it I was impressed with everything except the finish ... I'm not sure what kind of paint it was but a blind man may have applied it ... It's covered everywhere but some spots look thin or ... I don't know, but it's crappy. On the other hand, I didn't buy it to be a show piece, its a shooter. I did have to replace the locking piece; it worked fine in semi but wouldn't feed correctly in full auto. Once I decided it was good to go I called HKParts and bought the proper HK53 hand-guard, (it came with an MP5 hand guard which is shorter) and the longer HK21 cocking handle. Then after a few more completely successful outings with 25 and 40 round mags and my BetaMag, I took the plunge and SBR'd it so I could leave the stock on and shoot it in semi-only without tying up my sear. I eventually bought the newest "type F" collapsible stock (the one shown is just a French CETME stock in modified G3 stock hardware) ... I need to take a new picture of it!

Anyway, its had a couple thousand rounds with zero malfunctions, even suppressed ... I'm completely satisfied with my $650 HK53 knock-off ...

kimberkid: Very cool-looking HK you have.

I've read far too much about ground down bolt heads, or the need to sometimes replace rollers, therefore didn't want to risk any work to a C-93.
One of the two gun smiths I've been to here charged $160 to repair a typically small, cracked spot weld on (TGI) Hungarian AMD-65 "AKs". This is the "landscape".
* Note: I knew his charge Before I traded for the AMD.

I'm finding firearms I can't remember buying. Found a gen 3 Glock 19 in back of safe. Also a charter .38 undercover. At the top of my closet. Decided to do a deep clean only found those. Will not tell wife. That would be the end of me buying.

Me too. Recently I found a NIB Gen. 3 Glock 19 Talo edition an extra Model 10 snubbie and GP100 .357 I forgot I had.

As far as my collection being complete, for all intents and purposes- yes. There is one I want/desire, but realistically will not ever purchase.

I have all the CCW, hunting and other self defense weapons I will ever require and never wear out in my remaining lifetime. Trying to be realistic and am actually looking at reducing my inventory, not only of firearms, but lots of fishing/camping gear too.

.

Nice, what are you going to get?
I have on order a Alchemy Custom Weaponry Prime Elite in 45 ACP with his <1" @ 25 yard guarantee. I ordered the blue finish with ball cuts, the only changes I will make is to add a set of G10 grips, either VZ or Lok. I have plenty of holsters, magazines and ammo loaded.

Thanks!
Price was another reason in my decision to take a chance on it ... if its good, I win ... if not I send it back on their dime and I'm not out anything, except the transfer from my dealer. I've only heard about the ground bolt heads being on the 308's, but I understand your hesitation ... my thinking was, a Genuine HK (around $3,500 last I saw) and one of the big name clones like PTR is $2K if you can find one for sale.
BTW, there is a Century for sale right now on Gunbroker with HK furniture & carry handle, buy it now for $895 ... and its not my auction!

Not a collector.
But figured one needed about a dozen rigs just to hunt critters in my home state.
Can't do it all, and can't do as much of the lesser as I'd like.
So...........I don't need as much.

Grew up in a shooting family. Not fancy but as a kid shooting Pythons, Woodsmans and Gold Cups was the norm.
Got my first Ruger #1 in jr high.

Dad's buds gun nuts too so shot a lof of things over the years.

Really don't have the urge to collect.
But this one time..............I did have the silly idea to have four TC Hawken rifles on the wall.
Hawken Silver Elite I have.
Passed on a Cougar and reg.
Only one I'd have to really hunt for, would be the Supreme.

Wall art. Kinda silly.

Got rid of a couple Blackwidow recurves and an older Groves "Dyna Stressed".
Aint shooting em, away they go.

I need a Remington 870 Special Field 20 ga and a new Colt Python.
Will be done w what I "need" to hunt.
I could go rabbit hunting today, but have only 12 ga and bunny popping with a 12 doesn't see right.
Put my A5 20 up for sale, consignment at a shop.
28" mod..........it's a bit long.
I suppose I could fetch it and go tomorrow.

Eh, if snow melts go shed hunting instead. Less to carry LOL
