Great to see so many people already assembled at the VA capitol chanting "USA"!

Crowd estimate 5,000-10,000 already at 8:30 AM.

Current live feed pointing out sea of united 2A activists, "Guns Saves Lives" stickers and mention of VCDL.org.

How many rallys do you see where activists sing the national anthem? :D

No sign of counter protesters.

A Richmond TV station is using their news helicopter to provide live aerial views of the rally - at least when the chopper isn't down for refueling. As of 10:45 am Central, the chopper is back up. It can be found at: www.nbc12.com

12-year THR member here. Own more guns than I can count.

These militia dudes playing soldier are embarrassing and make me pine for at least a little bit of sensible gun control. Not looking for a debate - won't even see any replies. But seeing this childishness motivated me to at least state my piece.

There's not that many people there in full gear. They are law abiding and helping our cause. Did they embarrass you when they were fighting for you?

Keep your weak stance, hoping for a little bit of gun control and you'll get a lot of gun control.

If WWII veterans showed up to a march with OD battle dress uniform (BDU), M1 Garand on sling, M1911 in holsters and steel bucket helmet, would you think negatively?

No. One could argue they showed up to proudly display their military service.

As shown by many live feeds, many who showed up to VA lobby day rally with AR15s and in full BDU are veterans.

Keep in mind, many of us who served in the military in recent decades used M16s and us showing up to marches with various color scheme/pattern BDUs, AR15s, body armor and ballistic helmets is continuation of veterans proudly displaying military service and should be seen in positive light.

For many, the simple act of putting on the uniform elicit fond memories of comaradre and team work towards achieving a common objective, at times at great sacrifice. For me as an ex-Army medic, it is a reminder of those soldiers who sacrificed their lives and body parts for others.

The rally is beautiful. I like seeing normal guys with dad bods in tactical gear. They're just normal guys who value their rights. I prefer an average looking guy carrying a gun to bearded sunglasses tactical guy. We can all see ourselves in a normal looking guy, on his phone, who just happens to have a plate carrier and an AR.

You don't need to be a soldier to like your guns and the citizens of VA are peacefully reminding us that the average American values their rights!

Many of us with "dad bods" were the tactical guys in our younger years. ;)

I used to rock climb, jog miles a day and cycle 40-50 miles on weekends ... now I am happy if I get lawn mowed without passing out. :D

Any word on how many are in attendance now that it is mid-afternoon?

Hope it makes some sort of impact, although I'm not holding my breath. My thoughts are that this will only be rectified in the courts or in the ballot box 2 years from now.

Fake news looks like their doing their best to broad brush the crowd as a bunch of militia nut cakes and white supremacist.

Same tired and worn out playbook...
Yeah, and when you show up looking like "a bunch of militia nut cakes and white supremacist" you're just doing the mainstream media's job for them.

Sure... but you're not ever going to air drop tens of thousands of people into a public protest and not get some dopes. The fake newsies chose to misrepresent the crowd by zooming in on the handful of dip sticks.

We already have "least a little bit of sensible gun control" - we he a LOT of sensible gun control. What is being protested today in Virginia is the desire of the Governor of that state to take away a Constitutionally guaranteed Right To Keep and Bear Arms. What do you want the Virginians to do , bend over and say "Thank you sir - may I please have another?" ???

.....won't even see any replies.

I hate it when a guy sneaks into a party , throws a stink bomb then runs away.

You don’t state where you are from but rest assured you have neighbors who are plotting to take more of your rights. When that happens are you going to crawl under a rock? Or are you just going to crawl?

Capitol Police says 22,000 there. A bunch were backed up at the Diamond awaiting shuttles and never made it downtown.

Some of the news articles I've seen were laughably biased. I was surprised to see a relatively fair article put out by NBC here.
The article wasn't too bad, but the video bothered me. Note that the reporter makes reference, not to the 2A right, but to "what [gun rights supporters] think is their 2A right." He also talks about the 2017 attack (a car attack) and how the governor has already announced to the nation that confiscations won't happen.

NBC:"Police announced one arrest: a 21-year-old Richmond woman charged with wearing a mask in public after she allegedly ignored an officer's warnings to remove a bandanna covering her face."

Why would a woman want a bandanna over her face in thirty-odd degree weather?

She was wearing a scary bandana, call in the swat team!

The AntiFa people hate the proposed new laws as much as we do. They were difficult to see as they were wearing their usual outfits AND VCDL "Guns Save Lives" stickers. We were talking and joking with them. Us acting like people towards each other may just scare the ---- out of some other people.
