gone back to revolver and 1911 carry. used to do it, got caught up in high capacity mags and modern guns and features, now back to where I started.....except better sights for my old eyes. no mil specs sights anymore.

side note: still like higher capacity mags and believe and support it...I'm no fudd.:p:D

I believe in people's right to own whatever they prefer.

I personally don't find much use for high cap mags in a full size pistol. The standard 15 - 20 round mags seem sufficient. However some like the hicaps for range or gaming. I even know a Cop or Two that carry a couple of 32 rounds in their vest for their Glock.

....How have you changed over time, with your guns and gun interests?
I've changed, somewhat. When I turned 18, I asked my dad to buy me a 1911. He declined, and it would be about 25 years before I got around to buying myself one. I know that seems like a horrendously long time, but I had a long phase in there in which I had no interest in guns. (Shocking, I know!) Even during that no-interest phase, I still had a .357 revolver and a Ruger .22 pistol, as well as a couple of shotguns and rifles. They spent years on end, unloaded and in my closet.

Fast forward to my mid-forties, and I still wanted that 1911. I got my CHCL and decided that that would be my carry gun. So I carried it for a few years, but decided that I wanted something lighter. So I got something lighter, and then lighter still. I moved from a 1911 in .45 acp to a G19 to a Shield in 9mm. I've gained an appreciation for the modern, striker-fired pistol. I love my 1911, but there's something to be said for the simplicity of the Glock. And there's something to be said for the ergos of the Shield.

The one constant across all of those is that I apparently like a good matte finish. I've seen some gorgeous blued or shiny pistols over the years, but for my money, give me a parkerized finish just about every time. Yeah, they show some holster wear. I think it's kinda sexy.

i meant hi cap as in 17 and 19 range not 32 or more. should have clarified as its a relative thing. I do support your version of hi cap also.

In my opinion that's not a high cap. That's the standard designed capacity magazine.

We need to understand the restrictions are being designed to prevent possession of a standard capacity magazine. The funny thing is if they passed a law saying you had to plug one barrel of your double everyone would understand how ludicrous that is.

I refuse to have my terminology defined by "them". No such thing as a Semi-Auto Assault Rifle exist. An Assault Rifle is an Automatic.

I am also a Liberal. That means I believe in the rights of the individual and that government will always attempt to restrict them so less government is better. I will not change the name of what I am because it's been usurped by the Socialist Democrat Theology.

Sorry, you kind of found one of my buttons.

In the last year, I've added revolvers and .22's but still have plastic auto's and a 1911---so I guess I'm kind of into everything.

first you're preaching to the choir, but not realizing it. second I dont think you understood my posts, from your reponses.

I understood. Sorry for taking it off topic. I will have to guard that button better so it doesn't get inadvertently pushed <vbg>.

Moving back to the topic:
I've moved back to shooting my revolvers more. I get a lot of pleasure out of wheel guns. Even my little M60 J-Frame.

Offhand McFlan: I was surprised to see you that you had carried a Makarov, and alternated this with a 9mm gun.
There might be people here who won't admit to carrying a gun manufactured in East Germany, Bulgaria, Russia or the PR of China.

And even more, that you not only Knew what a Polish P-83 is, but carried one for a while. The P-83's DA pull can be a little better than on a Mak. Too bad that magazines won't interchange between single-stack, standard Maks and P-83s. That's the only reason I sold my 83s (kept Maks for a while), to avoid confusion and mistakes with mags.

I used to buy handguns if they struck my fancy, the last 10 years I’ve been on a quest for a CC gun that is not only easy to carry but accurate in my hands.

sorry, but no you didnt.

I'm back to revolvers too.

For actual carry, I have used just about everything over the years. For the last 15 years or so, I have mostly been married to Glocks and my shiled 9 (don't like the Glock 43) and the occasional 1911. I do have several vintage 1911's and wheelguns that are safe queens.

My interests will always ebb and flow I suppose.

So many good guns are being built now-a-days I find it impossible to stay in a lane. That said, I much prefer quality over quantity and that will likely never change.

I resemble that remark. It's a wonder I can make it though a range session without a sobriety check.

When I start purchasing and shooting guns in 2007 I was more interested about revolvers. Now I'm more interested about autoloaders and since my recent acquired Grand Power Q100 I'm more interested about rotating barrel pistols.

I used to buy a ton of guns, mostly cheaper (sub 1k$) guns. Now I'm more into really nice guns and competition pieces. And rifles ive slimmed down to 2 while focusing my collection more towards handguns.

Rifle was my first shooting firearm and Argentinean Mauser almost taller than me (shot prone).
Revolvers came to me with a total infatuation since I handle my family dentist S&W 3" in 32cal. (I miss him till today) pass to me shotguns, BB gun.
Later during the late 60's Winchester lever action was in my prayers because "The Rifleman", at the age 18 wanted a 1911 so bad that mostly forgot that a Luger was around her aunt house (she was a very important mentor too on my life profession).
The 70's brought the BHP along with the CZ family till today, following the Beretta 92FS
Polymers came lately on a varierty of formats.
However, few necessary items must be on a firearm to satisfy my taste (adjustable iron sight, not clunky or rough action and reasonable accuracy).
To sum up, rifles and shotguns never left my taste from FAL, to Le Francoise exposed hammers, also from Mannlicher stocks in 6.5 x55 to 22cal., handguns with wooden grips stay close to me all the time and will be regardless of the fashion.

Kind of a side note, and I realize this is a bit of a heresy around here, but I did so much horse trading last year that this year I find myself sort of not really caring about acquiring new guns.

I know it's temporary but lately I've been more into knives and entertaining the notion of getting rid of some of my cheap guns to fund having maybe 10 or fewer nicer guns. They wouldn't get babied either. If I bought them, they are getting used.

The older I get the more of a minimalist I've become. I've said this multiple times but when I started out I was all over the map on what guns and calibers I owned. The more I learned the more I tried to streamline the process. Between us my wife and I carry three different models of 9mm Glock. That leaves us with one type of defensive ammunition, one type of practice ammunition and two kinds of magazines. I carry a Glock 26 most of the time. When I go to bed it becomes my nightstand gun.

We have other guns but only because I'd take too big a loss selling them.

I packed these two Para Ordinances: a P13 & a P14 from about 2001-2014 . The guns gradually were upgraded and they both can take the longer P14 mags (as can the P12 I still EDC sometimes. ) I thought the hi cap mags that worked well for me were the be all end all. They were at the scary times after 2001 wars and rumors of war and the Obummer era. I trained with those pair under the best trainers, before that with the 1911 like my Dads old hardball gun pictured lower.

Retired and now living in rural Oregon , I might open carry a full sized pistol , but you can count on I CCW a single stack .40 ( was a SIG 239 or S&W Shield now a Walther M1 PPS) IWB with usually a Ruger LCP or Keltec back up in the pocket

Mine keeps changing. It was chasing the "perfect carry gun". Now it's more into finding the "best deal". Since I pretty much have my carry needs met I just bought a Beretta 92 yesterday mainly for a fun soft shooting target gun which is a big change for me. I'm probably slowly moving into the "collecting" stage. IDK we'll see how I feel tomorrow about it, lol.

I'm getting away from full size duty guns. I don't get to the range enough to shoot them, they don't conceal well, and i find that i burn through my ammo budget too quickly. Part of me sees the possibility of political winds blowing us toward a reduced capacity mandate. I don't agree with it, but I like to make sure I find the guns I want when they are available and not having to settle on what has been picked over. Anyway, guns like the P320, Glocks, 92fs, etc are pretty much to the wayside. I find myself flush with single stacks and revolvers. If I won't carry it, then it goes to the block. I have no need to hang onto stuff that doesn't strike my fancy. Couple .45 acps, few .38/.357, and a good 12 gauge, and I'm more than set.

Started with 1911's and revolvers. I have gone through striker phases, DA\SA phases and even carried a SA revolver a few times. Glock (still own 1 G17) Sig, HK, Ruger, Beretta, Smith, Springfield, Colt and who knows what else.

After each short affair I return to 1911's and revolvers. Now instead of full size steel frame they may be alloy framed and J frame or Commander\Defender sized but still the same.

And if own it i shoot it and if I shoot it i take care of it. I don't abuse any tool or piece of equipment I own. They made have honest wear but not beat to crap.

YMMV
