Brownell's retro upper problems - anyone else with Brownell retro ARs?

That they did,... they included the component parts to the list of prohibited items in the proposed AWB bill: " "Assault firearm" includes any part or combination of parts designed or intended to convert, modify, or otherwise alter a firearm into an assault firearm, or any combination of parts that may be readily assembled into an assault firearm." So while under Federal law the lower is the "firearm", proposed state law would complicate acquisition of parts after the effective date. Hopefully the measure dies in the state Senate.

Well in that case I would max out my credit card.If I can’t buy gun stuff I would have plenty of time to pay it off.

They are learning. :(:(

Iowans are extremely tribalistic. Just mention that the best steak place in the world is Rube's and they should take care of you, lol.

Tribalistic? Yes, but every Iowan knows the best steaks come from someone’s backyard, never a restaurant! We all know a guy and buy a side and cut it up while the charcoal burns down. Applebee’s is for sad singles who don’t know how to grill.

Back on topic, I hope it works out for you and I’ll cross my fingers the legislature doesn’t continue to erode your Rights.

Decided to make this a build from scratch project. Picked up an NDS partially stripped retro upper that somebody had started as a project. project and didn't get very far. Going shopping for pencil barrels at the local gun show this weekend. My biggest dilemma at the moment is whether to go for a 3-prong or A1 bird cage. I'll do the three prong on the NDS, and probably a birdcage on the C7 receiver when I get to that one.

Just as a postscript, I checked in with Brownells. To verify they received the return item... They noted they were extremely backed up on returns and I could expect my refund 2 to 3 weeks after they log the return in receiving.

I’m sorry it all went down the way it did but pleased to see you’re keeping the momentum going. Reminds me there’s a gun show in town here I may need to haunt for more winter projects.

I have found that there are a bunch that get hooked up on building a correct retro gun.
I carried a few different M16A1’s and can tell you that some were a mix of parts. When I’m Okinawa, back in 1983 we had A1’s that had been rebuilt several times. We had three prong and birdcage flash hiders.

Same here. I was the armorer when we got A2 handguards to put on our A1s, long before we got A2s. But that was in a Guard unit. Don't know if they did that in RA.
