Glock 48

I owned one briefly after they first came out, then decided to sell it because I didn't think the advantages over a G19 were huge (lose the capability for a bright light, lose capacity).

Since then, the very promising rollout of the Shield S15 magazines have caused me to re-examine my position WRT capacity. I'm still on the fence about whether it'll dethrone my G19; a rail opening up the potential for a bright light would turn that into an unqualified yes.

Unrelated, but if you already have a G43 that also gives you 4 potential gun combinations, including the 43X.

I carry mine everyday, it’s nearly the perfect CCW. It checks most all the boxes on my list.

-Able to get a full grip, no pinky hanging off
-no pinching or lack of magazine releasing because of extended mags getting held up by ones grip
-15+1 capacity with my Shield Arms mags, which I have had no problems with yet
-Nearly as thin as single stacks
-Barrel length of a G19
-Glock Reliability

Need I say more?

There is a noticeable difference in thickness between a 43x/48 versus a G19. And now that the capacity is equal, I see no reason for my G19 other than magazine compatiability.

I looked at the G48, G43, G43X and Sig 365 a few months back. I was leaning toward the Sig, but they were out of stock and the store where I was looking had all Glock 9mm's on sale for $400 OTD. For that price I decided a Glock was coming home with me and I chose the standard G43. I don't see where the G48 does anything I can't do as well with my G19.

I still don't understand why Glock didn't make the G43 compatible with the G43X and G48 magazines. That would have provided a lot of versatility. I can carry 15, 17, or 33 round factory magazines in either a G19 or G26. Would have been nice to do that with the G43.

I like the G43, don't regret buying it. But I did eventually get a Sig 365 and like it a lot better. With the 10 round magazines it carries IWB just as easily as the G43 and with 12 round magazines it has largely replaced my G19.

I did look at the sig 365 and the sig XL the 48 just fit my hands better and I like that there is a lot of after market support for it also the 48 is smaller than my 1911 but not too small

When the 48 first came out I thought it was stupid. On paper it’s not the much thinner than a 19, of which I have two. But it grew on me and now it’s my EDC. It’s noticeably lighter and thinner than my 19s, but it still shoots like a full-sized gun.

Not meaning to be facetious, but there's gonna be a ton of love for the G 48 and the G 43X in Washington state in a few weeks after our legislature mandates 10-round magazine limitations. I'm ready to proclaim the 43X the new official concealed carry pistol of Washington here pretty soon …

(I have a 43X, it's worthy -- went with it over the 48 due to slight edge in concealability)

+1 on this for me. I'll add that the smaller grip of the 48 is perfect for my hand size. Although I've used Glocks for over two decades, the 17/22/23/27 grip size was a challenge for me. Not so with the 48, it's the Glock I've been waiting for.

Any problem finding holsters? I’m considering buying one yet safariland isn’t showing kydex OWB for the G48

I'm wanting a Safariland 5197 for my 48. They make one for the 43/43X. I called their customer service yesterday but they couldn't tell me when or if one will be available for the 48. They do have the 567 that will fit the 48, product code 567-54-411.

I handled the G48 on several occasions and was convinced that I was going to Love. It. Then I shot one and it only took 5 rounds to figure out that I did not love it. I didn't care for how it shot or felt in my hand while firing at all. And that was weird, because I really did like the way it felt when I just handled it at the gun counter.

Anyway, .... I have a buddy who things the G48 is the best thing since sliced bread, and I'll probably shoot one again in the future. With all of that said, I haven't seen anything particularly troubling about them on the net. They seem to be plenty reliable. If you like how it feels and shoots, go for it.

I bought one a while ago on an impulse buy. I also picked up the Shield Arms 15 round magazines. I pocket carry due to some back issues, but if I carried IWB it would definately be my go to carry gun. Thin, light, reliable, accurate and 16 rounds for the capacity I want. It's everything you could want in a carry gun. I'd recommend it.

They are the perfect size pistol for CCW.

If they would chamber it in .40 - I'd have one.

Until then, it's the G36 .45 ACP.

GR

It would make for a GREAT .40 CCW. If Glock did that it might make me start to consider going back to a 40 for CCW and having a Glock 48 in 9mm already, I would have a low cost trainer for it.

I was carrying a G19 Gen 5 MOS and went to the P365. Super happy. The G19 is YUUUGE compared to the P365. I don't see why 2 less rounds with the same overall length grip in the G48 makes sense for me.

Because with a $40 shield arms mag and a changeover of the G48 mag release gets one 15+1.

If you like the G19, but it was just a tad too thick for comfort, the G48 is for you. I was in this camp and for years carried a Kahr. When the 48 came out, I went with it. The S15 mags are a plus too. The G48 actually carries a bit better than the Kahr CT9. The butt is a little shorter.

The thinness of my 48 makes it conceal just a bit better than my 26. I need to further test my S15 mags, but even with oem 10 rounds, with the ameriglo night sites it is great. I have G19 mags with x-grip sleeves for my 26 and that's excellent as well, just not as thin. The 48 is like a full size kahr with glock attributes. Thin is in :)
