Can anyone help ID this ammo? Country of origin? Berdan primed?? (Can you tell just by looking at it?) I’m also wondering if it’s corrosive or not, and if there’s anyway to tell just by looking at it, as I don’t like shooting corrosive ammo in my guns. Any help/info appreciated.

It is Chinese. It was sold as noncorrosive. We pulled a bullet, dumped the powder, and “shot” the primer on to a steel plate which did rust. So, we treated it as corrosive. YMMV.

If it's Norinco you can probably sell it to "those guys" at a gun show for a high price because they believe it is armor piercing.

I consider all "surplus" 7.62x39 corrosive and I will wager your is. If not, a thorough cleaning after shooting is always a good thing.

Norinco for sure from back in the 90's. Still got some here that hasn't been fired yet. Recognized it right away. IMG_1280 (2).JPG IMG_1281 (2).JPG IMG_1282 (2).JPG IMG_1283.JPG 122 grain and says lead core but I never checked it. Also says non-corrosive and there's never been any problems with that in a couple different SKS's but I always clean them thoroughly after firing. I never trust cheap, berdan primed, steel case stuff. Don't recall ever having any problem at all with them and they chronograph pretty much the same velocity as any other Chinese or Russian stuff. Forgot the price back then but it was cheap and I wound up with a couple thousand rounds. I have a couple boxes of the old steel core stuff around here also and it states on the box that it's steel core.
