We will not be taking any new orders after 02/22/2020.

Many of you know that a few years back Miss Judy lost a 10 year battle with cancer. I guess the business got neglected to some extent during that time. The medical bills and business debt gave me little choice but to take bankruptcy.

It appeared for a time that it could be worked so I could keep the business going but thats not going to happen. Im looking forward to the future.

It has been a real joy for Judy and me to meet so many great people. I thank you for all the business you have given us. There are so many good memories. Judy handled the phone and made so many lasting friendships.

The bank tied up the programs and even my name. It appears they are going to continue the grip line. There wont be any one named Ahrends associated with these grips and we only hope they can continue the quality we offered.

Cheers, Kim

Thank you for posting this. So very sorry to hear about the loss of his wife a couple of years back and for the subsequent financial toll it took on his business. I found their grips to be well made and reasonably priced. I was especially fond of the skip-line checkering they offered on their 1911 grips. Here's hoping for all the best for Kim Ahrends on the road ahead. God Bless.

Sad to hear. I met Kim and Judy in the early 80's at a a couple of IPSC matches he put on in Clarion, Iowa. He was shooting one of his tricked out Colt
Commanders in a cross draw holster. After the match we went back to his house and he showed us his one man grip making setup. He did everything by hand.
Real quality people both Kim and Judy. I wish him only the best in the future.

Indeed, Ahrends has always been known for making very nice grips.

I am sorry to hear about all they have been through, and I hope all works out for everyone in the Ahrends family in the future.

Stay safe.

So very sad. We have lost another American icon in the shooting world. I will keep the Ahrends family in my thoughts and prayers. I’ve lost so many of my family and friends to cancer. If I could somehow elect just one disease to be cured, I would have cancer eliminated.

Hoping he can manage to resume under a different business name eventually.

Sorry to hear about their trials and tribulations and the loss of his wife.
