I did it in the Texas US senate primary years ago to help stop Ken Benson -- the guy who cast the deciding vote for Clinton's AWB.

I'm considering doing it again to help stop Bloomberg. What do y'all think?

None of them are worth a crap, but Bernie is the only one who has ever cast a pro-gun vote, although these days he's a long way from being pro-gun.

Can’t put my finger on it but something is nagging at the back of my mind about that. Something about party affiliations and state rules in voting.

So far, everyone in VA keeps saying that you can vote in either primary, or you can vote in both, as long as they don't occur on the same day. So, it may vary by state.

My only concern is, there is a lot of information out there about who to vote for to disrupt the process, but I am still apprehensive that the most disruptive might also be the worst possible outcome.

If you are a R person and Trump is your person of choice (and he should win the R nomination hands down, I see nothing wrong with going to a primary and voting against someone like Bloomberg by voting for any of the others. Bloomberg is as anti-gun as they get and I think we, as gun owners, would rather Trump go against Bernie .............

Vote your beliefs as closely as you can. Yes it’s almost always a vote for the best thing available in the trash heap, but honestly it’s as much about other issues this time as it is the gun rights issue. Those others are not on topic for us, but when any rights are grossly and intentionally eroded then it’s cause to look to gun rights. Get out and vote is all I can say. One side seems more aligned with my personal beliefs than the other by a margin resembling the Grand Canyon, and even among that group certain individuals are stand out most aligned with my views. As such that is how I will vote, and I assume most here will vote in a similar way. I see no reason to get in the way of the other side... they are doing a pretty good job of that on their own. I expect physical altercations between candidates by the time this one is over, and some of the candidates are already 1 foot in the grave so this process may just finish them off. I hope not, but this is almost comedy except it’s not funny because it’s reality.

I voted for Bernie last time in the primary just to be able to say I voted against Hillary twice. In TN you can vote in either the Dem or Rep primary, but not both.
Trump will win in TN, so there is no need for me to go vote for him, but this time, voting in the Dem primary feels like playing with the monkey's paw.
I still don't know what I am going to do.

Bernie Sanders has a D-minus rating from the NRA. He used to have a C-minus. Every other Democratic candidate has never had anything other than an F.

If you're into hedging bets, Sanders would be the least-bad Democrat to have as President. Bloomberg would be hands-down the worst: a gunowner's nightmare from the get-go.

I crossed party lines to vote against a candidate in a primary once. It was for states attorney and we (the police in the county) were trying to remove an ineffective states attorney. At the time the Democrats controlled everything in this county and many elections were decided in the Democrat primary. We succeeded in getting the states attorney replaced.

I don't know what effect this would have on a national election. I think you can make a difference at the local level with a tactic like that, but I don't think you can convince enough people to hold their nose and ask for a Democrat ballot at the state level to make a difference.

Why settle for president Bernie or Bloomberg when you can have Trump?

Exactly. That's why Voting for Bernie is a smart hedge.
There's a Republican movement that Trump endorsed in NH rally that for states that allow registered Independents to vote for either party for primary to vote for "weakest" candidate he can beat ... < Bernie > ;)

AFP News Agency: Trump suggests Republicans vote for "weakest" Democrat in NH primary

And for deep blue states like CA where registering as Republican and voting for Trump would be pointless, registering as Democrat to tilt the primary vote towards "weakest" candidate for Trump to defeat is applicable. :D

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.

Of course in close/purple states, you want to register for the party of your choice and vote for gun rights/2A.

Go Bernie, Go!

2020 is "call to action" year to secure the judicial future of gun rights/2A, our "D-Day". Gun owners from all walks of life must come together and set aside our differences to fight a common enemy, the antis, so we can defeat unconstitutional gun laws in the US Supreme Court.

We can and must win this year for gun right/2A future not only for us but for our children and grandchildren.

I believe Rush L calls it operation chaos.
Vote for thecommunist Sanders in states that allow you to
That way there will be chaos in the Democratic convention, plus we force them (dnc) to spend all thier money before thier candidate runs against Trump.
Win/Win!!!!!

Depends on the state you live in.

Texas is an "open primary" state. You can vote in either one, and then only that one if there should be a run off. You never "register" any affiliation, but your card is stamped for the party primary you voted for. Next year you get a new card.

Being a "new" voter in the Democratic Primary gets you on a lot of junk mailing lists, same as voting in the Republican I expect, its been quite a while since I considered strategic primary voting.

Never vote against someone, vote for someone.

If only! I can count on the fingers of one hand when I wasn't voting for the "lessor of two evils" and one of them was Jimmy Carter back when I was young and gullible. What a mistake that was!

A life long R man, I voted a straight R ticket. Unfortunately that mean as a RI resident from 1964 until 2004 I was generally on the losing side. Loved the R.I. polls in those days. A big machine with a big lever for either party. Throw the one of your chose and your done Of course each candidate or referendum had their/its own lever. I never used one for candidates. Now a Florida resident it’s good to be on the winning side occasionally.
