Hello gentleman
Has anyone actually seen or fired a Tavor 7 308 caliber in real life?
I have Tavor 556 rifles and love them and would like to get my hands on a Tavor 7 but they seem to only be on pre order status at this time.

what are your impressions of this firearm and its accuracy reliability and potential?

First of all 308 doesn't have much recoil.
Second it's semi-auto so that means even less recoil.
Third tavores have a well-designed butt pad and absolutely zero recoil in five five six.

But if anyone has experience with actually having fired one or information on there accuracy and reliability I would appreciate it or also where to get one under $1,900

I guess recoil is subjective. My rifle in basic was an M-14, it was a .308, and it was semi-auto. It was also 10 lbs., and I thought it still had enough recoil to make firing multiple 20 round magazines not something I wanted to do for fun.

I wouldn't care to fire that cartridge in a small plastic bullpup. Obviously, opinions vary.

wiki says the T7 lists at 9lbs sans mag, and calls the m14 9.2lbs sans mag. 20rnd mag would add another pound. Recoil should probably be a little less severe with the T7 simply because it SHOULD have less mass slamming back and forth.
The 17" barrel, especially moved back by the bullpup design, would mean I wouldnt run a brake on it, and would probably opt for a BFD or linear comp.

Im not inclined to buy one, but for folks that like the idea/design it looks like a nice rifle.

Tavors are pretty chunky rifles, with the recoil impulse is straight into the shoulder. I found the recoil to be minimal, and overall liked the design.

Trigger was still classic bullpup... can't compare with an AR trigger. Better than some bullups though.

Great I appreciate the thoughts.
This is a relatively new rifle so I was surprised that someone mentioned a Gen 2 because even the Gen 1 I thought was still on backorder most places.
Does a Gen 2 actually exist?
Anyone have any clue where to actually get one?
Has anyone here actually fired a Tavor in 308 or own one?
By the way the barrel isn't actually as short as you might think. I believe it's 18 in
That's longer than a lot of barrels on a semi-auto 308. They just look short because of the bull pump design the barrel is actually longer than for example many AR-10s or AK 308 s which do just fine with 16 and 1/2 inch barrels:evil:. No 308 needs a barrel longer than 20 in,
Granted this is not the rifle I'd take elk hunting but it has many other great applications where the shorter Barrel makes it far superior and dominates a 556. In addition the Tavor is far more reliable then any AR

Not having every picked up or even seen a Tavor 7 in person .308 recoil in a bullpup does sound a little intimidating. I guess the perceived recoil will have a lot to do with how well the action dampens the recoil.

I would really like to get my hands on a Tavor TS12 12 gauge. I haven't ever seen a TS12 in a gun shop or at a gun show either. I guess it is more risky for FFL's to stock these weapons which might be considered more on the exotic side and of interest to a smaller audience do to their uniqueness and price?

I have seen and held a Tavor X95 at a gun show but I would love to have the chance to shoot one. I am not really into Stoner rifles which has kind of narrowed a semi-auto .223 down to a Mini 14 or Tavor X95 for me. It would be awfully nice to be able to shoot an X95 before putting my cash down on one!

But it's true at least in general.
I've owned half a dozen ARS + 3 Tavores and have never ever experienced a jam of any kind or failure to fire with a Tavor.

For the guy thinking about getting an x95 just do it if you can find one around $1,500 used that's what I do you probably can get one around that price new as well and you'll be happy you did.
I have an x95 and the older model Tavor they are the guns that I would go to if the shtf

308 recoil is pretty minimal and the design of the Tavor reduces recoil but I'm just trying to see if anybody has actual experience with one which obviously so far nobody does.
anyone actually has one or knows where to get one under $2,000 please let me know

While not a Tavor, the recoil in a Keltec RFB isn't bad at all for a bullpup 308. I'd expect a Tavor to be pretty tolerable as well.

No 308 needs a barrel longer than 20 in,

Quoted for truth.

I'd definitely want to know how the accuracy is on the Tavor 7s. The X95 is a neat rifle, but most of the reviews I read seemed to indicate it was a 3 moa rifle on average. It would be hard to get excited about a .308 that shot similarly.

Yup, looks like they are no longer available at black market arms. Best of luck in the search.
