For those that are out there that don't want to be thrown in a negatively viewed category of how many guns you should or should not be able to own, show your support for being a " Gun Collector" in the good ol U.S. of A.

Good idea. Thumbs up.

On a somewhat related note, If anybody sells, written Only with Cyrillic (i.e. Russian, Ukr., Belarus, Serbian) lettering, but with No Images of Guns, "Kalashnikov collector" I will buy two t-shirts.

Those found via a Google search with the "K" word also have images. No thanks.
Please PM me if a 'K' t-shirt with only the word(s) is available.

I'm sure you heard the story of George the Bridge-builder. The point is, some folks are just going to run you down, no matter how you phrase your hobby. Anti-gunners
are going to be lost on the term "firearms collector", they will probably pay it no heed.

Drk1: maybe he’s Not suggesting that we tell local people, or put “Got Glock?”, or my “Czech Small Arms” sticker on our cars.

Maybe the idea is to emphasize the word collector only when speaking with somebody who already knows that we have “a couple of sporting guns...”.

I really don't understand. Why would anyone want everyone else to know that he/she is a "gun collector"? In my neighborhood it only makes you a target for the bad guys.
I interpret the rather vague OP as meaning; being identified as a *Gun Collector* rather than a *Gun Hoarder*, *Stockpiler* or other socially onerous term.

"Golly-gee Todd, who needs so many guns?"

"I don't *need* them.... I'm a collector..... A ballistic historian - if you will!"

Todd.

oh, I get it. yea, if I don't need to get a permit and pay a fee, I'm all in. Then it might be called a "collection", and not a "weapons cache" by the media. at least there is a reasonable label to bring to the discussion when people are being demonized.

Even though our next door neighbor on the north side prev. served as officer on a US submarine (before working nearby at the NMPC),
I close my garage door before putting any rifle case in, or taking it out.

And the word "Kalashnikov" (but no images will be visible) on a t-shirt shall/will be written Only in the Cyrillic script. Any image will be blotted out.
This way, only the dedicated pro-freedom "literati" who >truly< support the Sec. Amendment will understand. Again, the gun image will be blacked out, and only revealed when on jogging trails in other areas.

So in order to be a Collector your firearms must 150 year old at least, and since the ammo is dangerous anyway your powder kegs have to be dispose as well as your rights.
Our rights were write with clear ink for a reason, to keep us free of the tyranny. Even though, you have good intention politicians will munch them to their benefit (e.g.: Illinois, NY, Kali and so on)
Our only solid defense is the true nobody can be defended by the state at the same.

1669~2.jpeg Proud " Gun Collector "
Educating - John or Jane Q. Public ... about the difference of being a Gun Collector is just as important as them knowing that A.R. does not mean Assualt Rifle.
Because of all of the Anti-Gun propaganda out there these days, we can best counteract it by educating them with the facts.

They can ban everything but musket rifles in blink of an eye. They loved definitions so they can catalogue your rights as unnecessary device.

Why do you feel the need to identify yourself as a “gun collector”?

The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with collecting firearms.

Why do you have a problem with the term "Gun Collector" ?

you have the right to own as many as you want, for any reason you have, and it is nobody's business... some states get this, some don't.
I have never heard of a US state limiting the total number of firearms you can own. Can you name one state with such a law?

That's right. The 2nd Amendment is not about gun collecting any more than it is about hunting. Gun collecting is an even more tenuous justification than hunting is.

The danger is that if we put forth "collecting" as a justification for owning firearms, the antis will come back saying that, yes, we can collect them, but only if they are rendered inoperable. This is exactly what happened in England. And in England, the requirements for inoperability have been getting stricter and stricter. Guns that pass muster now are really badly butchered, to the point where it's not worth collecting them any more.

The only meaningful justification under the 2nd Amendment is individual and collective defense.

yes. every state where you have to have any registration or permit, becomes prohibitive due to the hassle and paperwork you have to do, and renew every year - which can be rejected if not approved.

So you can't name one. There is not a single US state that limits the total number of guns you can own. That is a fact. Sure California's registration for all purchases is a hassle but you can still own 1,000 guns if you want.
