This seems like bad fiction, but I guess it's not. For the duration of the new hyper-hyped Chinese flu, burglars and home violators have been allotted and blessed with OPEN SEASON by Philadelphia's top cop:
"PHILADELPHIA - In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Philadelphia police officers have been instructed to stop making arrests for certain non-violent crimes. The department said individuals who would normally be arrested and processed at a detective division, will be temporarily detained to confirm identification and complete necessary paperwork. The individual will then be arrested on a warrant at a later date." The crimes with a free pass include: "Theft from persons - Retail theft - Theft from auto - Burglary."

I would be interested in opinions on this ...particularly from our LEOs or Philly residents ...I can see the law of unintended consequences in action. So if you live there, do you anticipate the criminal response, have a family meeting, keep loaded firearms closer at hand?
I'm sure glad I don't pay taxes in that state. Was it W.C. Fields who said "Better here than Philadelphia?"
(Treehouse posted a leaked police memo and portrait pic of the buffoon who thought this up: https://theconservativetreehouse.co...lary-or-theft-due-to-coronavirus/#more-186711
