Have You Ever: misplaced/can’t find/forgot about/ or lost a gun?

I've had a couple of occasions where I'd picked up a cheapie single shot or some such gun in a yard sale because it was too cheap to not buy. Then found it in the trunk at some other point in time.
Years ago my dad, younger brother, and I would occasionally rent a table at a gun show. More than once came back with a gun none of us could recall buying or trading for. In those cases, we drew straws to see who got to keep it...or be stuck with it, whichever.

Was look for my Taurus PT111 G2 for an hour before giving up and heading out this morning. It's my EDC and I always put it in the night stand at the end of the night. I didn't take it out to my range yesterday and just took my SR40 and kept it with me the rest of the day. When I put it in the cabinet at the end of the day I didn't think to look in the night stand to make sure my Taurus was there. Get up this morning and it's not there so I go to the cabinet while my wife went to the car. Wasn't in the cabinet. I was in panic mode tearing the bedroom apart looking for an hour but we had to go so i stopped grabbed LC9 and took off. Drove about 30 miles before my wife asked what took so long. Told her and she says "oh I forgot to tell you, dog had knocked over a cup of coffee and it was running into the drawer". She had placed it on the TV stand and i didn't look there. I was nervous I'd did something stupid and couldn't remember it.

Nope. My collection is moderate enough I can remember where stuff is and with kids in the house all guns are locked up immediately after use.

I'd like to have so many that I can forget where one is, but not yet.

No, but my younger son left a Winchester 37 12 ga. under the seat of a truck he traded. :cuss:
I too did this 30 year's ago. Had a star bm under the seat in a hard case. Stayed there for 7 years when I traded the truck. Not a huge loss.

Yep. Due to poor holsters. I took my '85 Honda Big Red to the near by creek to fish for some sunnies. Returned home and my Sig 320 wasn't on my hip. I spent a good hour or so searching the ditches and found it. Scary thought. Live and learn.

I confess I did that once. It was a Ruger Redhawk in .45 Colt stainless. When my wife and I sold the gun shop business I initially thought I had transferred the gun to the new owner. The kid could not afford all of the inventory but I thought that gun was transferred. I actually took the gun home with others and put it in my safe. Then one day a few years later I found it in my safe and came to the realization I never did sell it. I added it to my personal inventory and almost 30 years later I still have it.

I have a history of cleverly (or so I think at the time) hiding things and then forgetting where I hid them. Everything turns up eventually or the light bulb pops on. Worst incidence was a Iver Johnson revolver I misplaced for a year. I knew it was in the attic somewhere but I just couldn't find it. Found it under a bag of blankets in an old cradle.

I have never owned enough weapons where I forgot what I had. And with Army conditioning, a "missing" weapon is a terrifying thought to me. Closest I get is I forget about some of the weapons I had/sold and look in the records I keep.

I never lost a guns but have a short story about someone who did. We were deer hunting in Illinois. He had a camo shotgun that he leaned up against a tree for some reason, walked a short way away, then came back and couldn't find it. I know others have heard this wives tale but I was there, it happened. We searched for hours, killed the whole evening hunt. It was actually in his truck. Found it there later. He did drink a lot back then, so not sure how it all went down.

Can't remember "why" it was stuck in there but, lost a #14 Smith for about 6 months one time. Someone may have come to the door and I chunked it in there or something?

We have my grand parents old wooden icebox in our dining room. Only thing in it is our tax papers. I found it the next tax season....doh. Was absolutely pi$$ed over that period of time. Sorta knew no one had stolen it,and that I'd probably stuck it somewhere but dang was it a difficult time. It won't ever happen again!
