So... lots of places are closed and there wasn't much to do today, so I stopped by a pawn shop. They had an pretty nice example of a ruger single six in the display with a $369 price tag on it. They had a lock on the trigger guard so I couldn't check the lockup, timing or trigger and it was missing the magnum cylinder. I told the guy that if I couldn't work the action to check it out and the magnum cylinder was missing, I'd be willing to take a gamble on it for $200. He wanted $300, so I passed on it.

Went further up the highway and stopped at Academy Sports just to look around. I'm looking in the case and see a Ruger Wrangler. I'm thinking, "man, I really need to subscribe to a magazine or something." I had no idea that Ruger even released such a thing. When I saw the $199 price, I took it as an omen.

Man, this thing is nice. It has that utilitarian look to it that I love, it's very light and handy and build about as well as a .22 needs to be.

I guess you can't have too many .22s.

No, 22's are like beer. There is never enough.

Son just bought one of these for me. Really nice shooter. Wish the cylinder was 'indexed' when loading and unloading but all around nice shooter. Painted the front sight white to..Love SA/gate loaded revolvers..

Funny you should say that. Just leaving the house right now with my dad to go get him one too.

I like the non indexing cylinder. I hate it when I go too far on one and have to spin the cylinder all the way around.

It’s a heck of a little pea shooter. I’ve done all the reading up on it that I can and haven’t found anyone saying anything bad about it. The only complaint is that some say it shoots low. If that’s the case, it’s nothing a couple of passes on the front sight with a file can’t fix.

I hate those trigger locks, back around 2002 when my dads gun shop started using them. I had the task of putting them on, nearly 800 guns that weekend. There was a noticeable drop in sales, everyone was complaining. Unlike most shop where the guns where behind the counter, these where wall to wall around the shop. Don't think they lasted a month.

there like the info card they use on the top of fishing rods, can't feel the action of balance when picking one out.

Me too.

I got caught up in the frenzy. I'll admit to my little bit of shame on that note - shoulda known better.:cuss:

In any case, when I walked through the near empty store, I spied something I really wanted and bought possibly more than I really need. Certainly more than I had complimentary items for.

See, when I gave in to the media-borne madness and bought all of those leeks.... I completely forgot to get more spuds.

Loves me some leek&potato soup and all my other spuds were socked-away for silencers.

Mea gulpa some soup!:)

Todd.

Congrats!

Indeed.

I feel sorry for people trying to stock up now.

I've been prepping for years, and have now been scoring points with neighbors and friends offering them TP, alcohol, nonperishable foods, and ammo.

BTW, how is a .22 gonna save you from coronavirus? And why do all the tv news reports have photos of the virus itself? Is that a mugshot? Are we all supposed to whip out our microscopes?

I’m back and forth on what to buy. I want something for my girls to learn on and a wrangler seems like a good option, but a heritage is cheaper. I’m basically waiting for a sale on one or the other to pop up locally so that I can feel like I got a deal.
