Hi guys, I was doing a little .223 reloading today and was checking the oal of the cartridge cases and noticed several that were. 1.749-1.735 or so. I realize the 1.749 is okay, but what to do with these shorter ones? I have been "collecting" brass for awhile, so not sure if I picked these up at range or possible bought them. Thanks for the input and for the record I did do a search prior to this post. Mac

I'm going to guess that the short ones are FC brass. Right? I have a lot of FC from the range and I just load them for plinking ammo. They shoot fine for me. I've seen them in the same length range as you; 1.735 to 1.745

If I'm trying to get the best accuracy then I use sorted and trimmed brass.
I'm not a good enough shot that I notice the difference most of the time.

Thanks guys that was quick enough. I did look at some headstamps, but was more interested in how short they were. Will load for plinkin.

Keep shooting to make them longer while checking for incipient case head separation. :D - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/incipient-case-head-separation.734058/

You can shoot them, if you don't feel comfortable put them aside and collect enough to convert to 300 blackout.
