I need to put together another AR 15. I like inexpensive ones and will just change the barrels when I need to.

The heart of an AR is the barrel and bolt carrier group. I don't like to cheapen out on either of those too much but have had success with the following-

18" Faxon barrel on a DMR style AR. Great balance of weight and accuracy.

16 and 18" PSA Stainless barrels. With handloaded ammo, I have seen sub MOA accuracy.

Why change the barrels when it is so inexpensive to buy a complete barreled upper receiver with the barrels of your choice? (Unless that is what you mean).

There are a lot of good AR parts sales right now. Just sign up for Daily Deals emails from the different companies. PSA, Delta Team Tactical, Primary Arms, Aero Precision all come to mind.

Last year i finally went to replace a burned up barrel. i ended up buying a whole rifle kit from PSA. Threw the upper on the lower i had and kept the parts as spares. I think it was like 260 something shipped. Looks like prices has changed. But still might be easier to buy a complete upper from PSA.

Still plenty of low priced options out there. I just ordered components for a new build, $795, all it needs is a brace and sights. That’s Aero Precision, JP, Ballistic Advantage, even a Radian Raptor. I could easily have saved 1/2 with Anderson, Daimondhead, etc. if money were tighter.

It’s still a great time to build an AR if you’re willing to substitute a few parts for those available or are looking at mid priced options. At the very least order a stripped lower or two.

I like the BCA uppers and build your own lower, around Atlanta you can pick up a lower for around $35-40, order a LPK for less than $40, and a stock for $30-50, polish the trigger lightly, oil and grease it up and go shooting. I like to tap the Anderson lowers to install a set screw to take up the reset on a milspec trigger, (the Aero is already threaded). The PSA lowers with the enhanced trigger is nice but you can get very close by polishing your own with polishing compounds and toothpaste and brown paper. I ordered some trigger springs and they help a lot. I'm going to try the anti walk pins next time I go to the range and see if they make a difference.
I removed the barrel of a BCA upper to true it up and it was surprisingly true, I found the hand guard screws were not torqued the same, besides that it is a good shooter
