There was a thread months ago where members mentioned a couple brands of aftermarket M1 carbine mags that were of quality, I just searched for it and couldn't find it so starting this thread asking on brand recommendations?

thanks

Korean military surplus are decent and Taiwan military also used these. Sarco did have them for a pretty good price among others.

Check gunmagwarehouse.com and cdnninvestments.com had some made in taiwan. I only know that last one because a buddy of mine just ordered some. Don't know if they work yet.

IMO get KCI/Korean ones. GI ones are usually garbage despite what the innernet experts will tell you, though they don’t own any M1 Carbines :D

I have two USGI 15 rounder ones for my M1 Carbine, and they are very reliable. Rusty, sure. Feed reliably, yes.

Good to hear. Pretty much none of my GI mags feed reliably even after I put Wolff springs in them. And they are in very good shape.

Hmmm, I have a number of 15 round WW2 magazines that I purchased some 20 years ago, many of them were still in the wax paper, and all of them have run perfectly in my Quality Hardware carbine. I recently picked up some from "Keep Shooting" that were on sale, and they appear to be good to go as well. I think that I paid about $12 each for these.

I have a number of original GI mags that I got with guns Ive bought. I still use a few of them and whenever I have a problem with the gun feeding or a malfunction, those are usually the mags in the guns when it happens.

I bought a bunch of the Korean mags when I got my first carbine, and they have worked great. They are also about half the price or less than a used GI mag too. I think I was paying around $12 for a 15 round mag. The couple of 30 rounders I have, were a bit more, but still very reasonable.

Ive read a couple of articles about the carbines and they stated that the mags were always the weak point and complaint with the carbines, even when new back in the 40's, and most mags were ditched for new mags each time they were resupplied with ammo.

KCI Korean mags as mentioned. I have some originals which work fine as they basically were unused since the Korean War.

Wolff springs are great replacements for ancient worn springs! ! !
