yes, i would see now where re-loading is an advantage.
There are other advantages, too. Few people that compete in target shooting of a kind that requires centerfire ammunition will shoot factory stuff. There are some, but for handgunners, if they are going to practice, they need ammo in volume and stuff their gun likes to shoot. A progressive or turret press is a good idea for them. For high power rifle shooters, they need to squeeze the most accuracy out of their firearm, and especially their ammo, as possible to be competitive. It is often just tiny fractions of an inch that determines the high score in a high power match. Just ask Nature Boy or another target competitor.
My preferred game is High Power Rifle Silhouette. When you are shooting everything offhand without any support (no slings, etc.), then a fraction of an inch at 100 yards can very easily be a complete miss at 500 meters! Matches are often determined by 1 animal or even a shoot-off to break a tie.

If you load for a wildcat cartridge or 10, it pays for itself REAL quick. Some cartridges are impossible to buy new. Try finding .357 AMP or .357/.44 Bain & Davis.

Did you add in the price of those cashew nuts so you could get the container ?

That is a consumable from a different department. It doesn't count. It wasn't accrued towards reloading. It gets charged to entertainment. And the cashews are an added benefit. I have many mixed nut and pretzel containers that hold most all my loaded ammo.

Some even my bullets. .357 RNFP.jpg 3000 158 gr round nose flat point bullets. Weighs 68 lbs. They make good plastic jars, I save them all.

I depreciated my Miller Syncrowave (TIG Machine) the same way years ago. LOL

That first project was EXPENSIVE, but the rest were gravy after that.

No comments on the pipe fittings and wall mounted pipe flanges?
Those were going to be the supports for a shelf above the bench, but when I realized I had nearly $100 in fittings, not including the 2x12 or the cost of the pipe and the labor to cut and thread all of it...I decided to go another way. And the coffee pot will definitely be being relocated off the bench...but not too far:)

Very impressed with your setup. Way nicer than mine. If I ever get reduced from essential status at work I'll finally have time to finish making my bench in the garage. At this point just been reloading on a 2x8 I clamped to a writing desk. I believe "jeryrig" is an apt summation.

Only one slight problem....it's about 5 years out of date. (I do like nut jars!)

Bursaguy: I'm jealous....my room used to be my Garage.....now the cars sit out in the weather.....after all what's more important? Nice job on your Reloading Room! I like your vice....mine's a pipsqueak sort of vice.....

As for expensive ammo.....the worse you get sucked into the hobby the more expensive it gets.....and worth every penny. Quality of life ..... don't try to price that.

Been doing it for 45 years now....still alive...still having fun....ammo is still expensive, bench is getting crowded......and this is before I added the latest toy....Lee APP.

Now then, buy quality materials and build a tasteful, sophisticated shadowbox in which to display your $1,200 cartridge. It is now *Art* and thus worth in excess of the $1,200 and framing cost you spent to produce it.

Every other round you produce is then gravy with a net cost of only what you spent on the components to produce them.

That's *Art* for you.

I tend to use the smaller peanut jars from Sam’s Club for bullets, and the larger ones for brass, as they become far too heavy for me to move around when full.

I have an unlimited supply of metal coffee cans with plastic lids I get from local marina. Once in a while I get a Folgers plastic can- I like them best!
My wife saves me all the slaw and potato salad tubs for odd uses at the reloading bench.

Well since we are on bullet and brass storage. I use boy scout popcorn tins and any other tin like it. Need to put labels on them as it does turn into a game remembering which one has what.
