Ammo crisis ‘pears to be over.....

"Ammo crisis 'pears to be over..." -This statement is totally dependant on where your at in the country. Just like the last "ammo crisis", this is far from accurate for my area. Empty shelves.

I'm in the woods but also hit biggish towns once a week. I posted this pic on a different thread, but this was up at the cafe. Resized_20200328_181411.jpeg I reload and have plenty of components but I realize many do not. To say the crisis of factory ammo is over, or appears to be over, is not true for all. Not even close.

When the dust settles (again), the drought will return (again). I suspect once Covid-19 cools off during the Summer, there will be a short ammo crisis break. But it'll be back in the Fall...

SGAmmo reopened a couple days ago. They're taking orders on a limited selection of stuff due to shortages of staff in the shipping dept but they opened again Monday.

The shortage for those who followed common sense advice years ago regarding ammo, now involves
almost every shooting club or range being closed.

In another month or so, IF no small riots have broken out for any reason (in different urban areas), people might then begin to realize that the chances of anarchy could be very slim and stop buying extra ammo.

Wasn't the fear of anarchy--mostly from being indoctrinated by movie reruns over the years (Red Dawn, The Road Warrior, Walking Dead etc)--what sparked the general anxiety?

Eventually we all run out of room for ammo and toilet paper and frankly when you consider the combined combustibility the mind shudders are the possible conflagration. :)

Nosler seems to have plenty of premium ammo available: http://www.shootersproshop.com/ammunition.htmlhttp://www.shootersproshop.com/ammunition.html
Lots of overruns and blem bullets, as well: http://www.shootersproshop.com/loading-reloading-bullets.html

Haven't checked LGS.

Anyone know how long toilet paper will keep in the freezer?

Regards,
hps

I've been keeping an eye on online sources out of curiosity. Seems like prices are still a bit elevated from where they were and there isn't a huge variety alot of places. That being said, it seems like you can actually find most calibers for non-insane prices with a little looking.

The longer this Chinese bat s*** crazy virus drags on, its starting to hit me that ammo demand will probably come down and prices will go back down.

The economy is so intertwined and fragile that if three sectors get decimated, everyone else will get dragged down with them. It just takes a while to see it everywhere.

My job in manufacturing is busy and I’m working hard and paying my bills. I have a good attitude on a daily basis but I have a bad feeling about our economy handling this much longer.

Maybe if there is a “silver lining” from this epic ****storm, I hope it is that our Nation wakes up and brings a boatload of manufacturing jobs back inside our borders!

God Bless you all and keep healthy.

Your statement "'pears to be" exactly right Mn Fats.:)
As everything else concerning this outbreak it varies greatly by region. In SW Connecticut our range/LGS is selling everything they've got in an effort to stay in business including rental guns and giving a couple boxes of free ammo w/purchases. They give two boxes of 9mm for a bottle of hand sanitizer and free range time for TP. Setting up a morgue at our local airport. Crazy times ahead. Be safe.

We're up and just outside of Hartford. All the best to you down there.

Hoarders aren't shooters
Oh really. I have 22 bricks of various .22LR in my smaller safe right now. A year ago I had 30 but I shoot bullseye pistol every week and CMP sporter 3 position rimfire once a month. Does that make me a hoarder bub?

Bill

stonebuster: A morgue at your airport?

Transporting some of those bodies should help newer pilots 'log' more PIC and multi-engine hours. I worked with a few guys who had transported a few cadavers many years ago, in small cargo planes flying "night freight".

Certainly not!

I keep about half that much on hand as 4 grand kids can burn up a lot of ammo.

We have family land an hour away and not only do they learn about shooting, but also, policing brass, cutting brush, mowing lanes, rebuilding tables and covers and the oldest can use the backhoe to keep the backdrop in good shape.
So the learn more than shooting.:D
