With a semi self imposed quarantine (68 with kidney disease) and retired I have a lot of time on my hands. I was looking at a $299 C&R SKS but with all the additional fees and tax it came to over $400 so I passed.

Looking at Bud's website I saw a Ruger 9 mm PC Carbine for $499. Free Shipping. That s 'just $76 more than the SKS plus it's NIB. So I ordered one last week Thursday, 3/26. It arrived at my designated LGS Tuesday, 3/31. That's a real good turnaround considering UPS doesn't work on the weekends and long guns are shipped by truck.

LGS had some new rules. Open only from 9AM -1PM and only allow one customer in per employee present. This LGS got slammed pretty hard two weeks ago so I understand. Had a half hour wait after I arrived but the LGS had everything ready when I went in. Although I was wearing surgical gloves an employee opened and closed all doors. Didn't have to touch anything. Had my own pen to complete the 4473 and employee opened the box . Took 3-4 minutes to get Uncle Sugars blessing and out the door.

So, for me, a smooth transaction in the age of Corona. That was my last foray into the world for awhile. My wife, the warden, has placed me on lock down for the duration but Amazon Prime is my friend.

Ruger 9 mm Take Down Carbine. Comes with one Ruger SR-9 17 rd. magazine. You can change the mag well to accept Glock mags which I have plenty. Will soon be ordering an optic and a couple other things.

While it is true you can't buy happiness but buy George you Can buy h-a-p-p-i.... about right there LoL

Good luck, and please let us know if it shoots super swell, like all new guns seem to do:thumbup:

Nice deal on that gun! I had thought about buying one 2 years ago, but went with a CX4 since I already had many 92 mags and CX4 accessories from when I owned one in the 2000's.

I'm also looking at getting an SKS. I had wanted a budget AR since I don't own a rifle caliber SD weapon. However I still own a few hindered rounds of 7.62x39, so an inexpensive SKS might be the solution for the time being.

Just wait till the Charger version comes out!

I've had my Ruger PCC for almost two years. It's an awesome little carbine. Mine is extremely accurate.

Congrats on your Ruger PC Carbine. I've had one a few months now and I LOVE it. I have the Glock mag insert in and I'm using Magpul 21 round Glock mags. The Carbine has been 100% reliable not one single issue with multiple ammo brands. With a 1-5x scope at 50 yards I can hit the bullseye all day long.

Good to know, I've never ordered online from any gun site but have looked at buds before. Thankfully I can usually find what I want at a LGS with a reasonable price. However There are a few things there that have caught my eye just to have.

Besides the new Ruger I have two other pistol caliber carbines. A CZ EVO Scorpion and a Freedom Ordnance FX 9. The FX 9 accepts Glock mags and I currently have a Mag Pul and a Factory Glock both 33 round capacity.

Searching for 33 rd aftermarket Glock magazines this morning I found this on the Classic web site: https://www.classicfirearms.com/glock-9mm-33-rd-mag-after-market/ No brand name, which is usually a sign to stay away, but the price is intriguing. The comments section have, as usual, some that say they work great and others that say they were to wide for the mag well. Has anyone tried these and if so did they work for you?

Same question for the the O.E.M. and ETS brand magazines, My Scorpion uses the clear plastic factory magazines, which I like, and ETS seem very similar. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately no range time for me in the foreseeable future. Also read that besides the .40 PC Carbine just introduced it's rumored Ruger has a .45 APC version is on the horizon.

I have an Extar PCP (Pistol Caliber Pistol) but it looks like a PCC and shoots like a dream. I have heard nothing but good stuff about the Ruger PCC's so looks like much fun in your future.
I almost pulled the trigger, so to speak, on buying the Hi Point carbine but it was the magazine situation that stopped me. Glad my Extar, like your Ruger is or can be made Glock mag compatible.
Enjoy!

I've been looking at Extar's for awhile now and, before I bought the Ruger, actually went to their web page to price one. Sold out of course.

Local pawn shop had a wall of Hi Point carbines. Wandered in there this past Monday and they were all gone. Manager told me they were the first to go when the madness started. He has my number so I told him to give me a call when they come trickling in a few months from now.

That's why they don't sell to distributors, they can sell their full output right on the website. It's usually sold out.

Check into the magazine issue on the Hi Point first, they're single stack and the ones we had in store weren't compatible with the same caliber pistols.

Those mags are good to go. I've got close to a dozen of them.

While critical observations have value too, positivity will always reign supreme in my book.

Congratulations on your good timing.

Todd.
