What's the best option for Glock 19 Gen 3 concealed carry? By that question is it better for a belt holster inside the pants or a shoulder holder under the shirt? I do hiking in secluded areas and often in water when fishing so really don't want an ankle option. Thanks.

The G19 is fat pistol. What you're comfortable with will depend largely on what you're comfortable with. For clothing that doesn't lend itself to a holster, either IWB or OWB, I go with a belly band under the shirt.

There really isn't any answer..It's SO subjective. Do a google-foo search on all the types. When you are hiking, can you do open carry?

IWB depends on SO much..type of holster, where you carry it. Shoulder does to..like ease of access when 'under a shirt'..is the shirt buttoned?

I prefer a minimalist holster, IWB, that covers the trigger well. I use Desantis..I used Raven Vanguard but found the rivets on my jeans scratched up the slide..so the Desantis.

In EDC a G26 with a G19 magazine and sleeve.

Also get a good, stiff belt if you are going to belt carry..IWB or OWB..

A holster on the belt, either Inside the Waistband (IWB) or Outside the Waistband (OWB) is generally more popular or common than a shoulder holster. Shoulder holsters are generally use specific, such as you spend your whole day driving in a car, like a taxi driver. Otherwise, most folks use a holster on the belt.

Here's a video from the late Paul Gomez that may be helpful

I had a S&W SD9VE which is the same size as a G19. I found it uncomfortable to carry IWB. I used a smaller gun for EDC. But I did carry it in a belt holster when hiking and camping. I did those activities in PA black bear country and felt the need for a longer barrel to maximize velocity of ammo which was Underwood Extreme Penetrator. The holster was an inexpensive nylon one with a magazine pouch and thumb strap. It was good for the particular use.

I personally could never carry a g19 doesn't work with my frame. Either it would print terribly or be so uncomfortable I would get sores. I'm 5'11'' and 245 so not a small guy but not a large guy either. My wife carried it for years and is 4'11" I don't know how she made it work but it did.

When outdoors I carry mine in one of these. I really like this system. If you leave one corner of the main compartment slightly unzipped it is easy to grab the corner with my left hand and simply pull to unzip while I reach into the bag with my right hand to draw the gun. Plus it is a great system to carry a few other essentials. I clip my gps and phone to the outside webbing. Everything is quickly accessible unlike a fanny pack or day pack.

There are 2 compartments, if anyone asks about it simply unzip the smaller forward compartment to show them your other gear, no one will ever know you're carrying. It works with a day or back pack if you need to carry more gear.

It carries a lot of weight pretty well. I've been using mine during turkey season to carry extra calls, gloves and camo headnet along with my G19 and other gear. Has been working great

I have the one in the photo. They make a smaller, more compact version and a lighter weight runners pack made with lighter materials and without the webbing

That is cool. Could carry some of my fishing gear as well compared to my man pouch.

It depends largely on you and what you are comfortable with(and can effectively use). I have little if any use for a shoulder holster, but that's me.

Asking that question without telling where you will be hiking means you'll get a lot of advice that may not be helpful.

Assuming that by hiking, you mean hiking:

This is what I use in Washington. G20SF in a Bianchi M12 military holster, available for around $20.

I often carry my 2.0C, same size as a G19, in an OWB holster when I'm in the woods. I'll carry it that way around town too just in cooler seasons where I'm wearing a coat. For IWB I prefer my Shield (although I'll also carry it OWB under a longer shirt or jacket). In terms of fishing or being in the woods I don't worry too much about concealing but that's just me.
