Seems that way anyway but I'm having a ball with it. I'm a hermit that works from home anyway and my wife is always home so I can't really use corona-induced cabin fever as an excuse. It started with the idea of converting my Nordic Charger into the precision rifle I always wanted to put together. At first I just slapped it together with the barrel off another rifle, a Vortex Razor 5-20x and AR parts I had laying around. It was a boat anchor at nearly 13lbs so I got a little more deliberate and shaved 2lbs off of it with a new threaded KIDD barrel, free float tube and Magpul PRS buttstock.

From there I traded my CZ 452FS for two more rifles, for a total of eight 10/22's. Always wanted a nice walnut sporter so I got one that I'd been eyeballing at the local shop with some nice wood and also a synthetic carbine with the 18" matte finished clean barrel. Immediately swapped the barreled actions and added a KIDD bolt to the walnut sporter, along with a Bushnell AR 3-12x that I picked up used. It's showing some real promise with Norma subsonics, maybe do a half inch at 50yds with some tuning. I love the way this rifle is turning out. The soft matte finish and black KIDD bolt look great but it'll probably get a less tactical looking scope like the Burris rimfire 2-7x. Been doing a crapload of scope/parts swapping over the last week or so.

On the synthetic carbine, I installed a Nodak rail with integral peep sight, Tech Sights front sight and SIG Romeo4 red dot. Next will come trigger work but the two new guns have serviceable 4lb factory triggers.

I also ended up reconfiguring three 10/22's I already had. One of them is now an SR22, put together with the parts kit I'd completely forgotten about and found while looking for something else, along with a 16" Tactical Inc threaded barrel that was also gathering dust. Onto it went the Ruger flip sights, Magpul grip and Primary Arms micro red dot from the Nordic Charger. Not sure it'll stay this way as I really have my olive drab tactical setup right. Plus it's lighter.

The takedown wears a Nodak rail/sight and TS front and I must've stolen its red dot a while ago because it used to wear one.

The stainless Charger has all Power Custom innards and an old Tasco ProClass 6x but to me is useless as a handgun. It'll either become a braced Nordic or a stainless sporter.

Left untouched is my olive drab tactical and unfinished is what used to be my only "ultiimate" with Nodak receiver, KIDD trigger and Clark mid-weight barrel. It has a new french walnut stock and Leupold 3-9x on the way. Currently has a birch sporter I picked up for forty bucks. Snapped this thinking I could use the wall of my shop as a background for a group shot.

I also bought a CZ 457 American and topped it with the Burris 3-9x rimfire in Talley rings. They had seven of them and I was able to pick through them to find one with nicer wood. The pic doesn't really do it justice, the stock is also rather dark.

And picked up a used .22Mag Ruger American "GoWild" model and dropped it in a Boyd's stock I had originally bought for my .17HMR. I think it looks great with the burnt bronze cerakote finish.

This is the result of one 10/22 madness spell I had several years ago. The only factory parts left are the receiver and the bolt group. I polished the receiver and ground the bolt face to a true 90 degrees and then headspaced it. The barrel is a 20" .920 Green Mountain that I turned down and polished. I tuned up and polished the factory trigger but was never really satisfied with it and replaced it with a BX trigger. It's a better trigger than factory but looks out of place since it's black. If I survive the coronovirus I will probably go to a silver Kidd. The stock is a one off that I dreamed up and built. I airbrushed it in what I call urban camo. The buttplate is 1/2" aluminum with milled checkering and I hollowed it out inside to reduce weight. Scope is a Mueller. This rifle has seen a lot of miles and the finish is beginning to show some wear but still good enough I'm not ashamed of it. It still gets looks and inquiries from strangers at my gun club range.

Got another KIDD bolt & handle yesterday, installed it and did some testing. Looks so much better with the black bolt. Lapua Midas+ was far and away the favorite. Pictured is the smallest group at 1/4"@50yds, largest was 3/8". I keep it zeroed for Norma subsonic hollowpoints and they group about a half inch. I think it'll shoot!

OP, I hope you realize that, unless you filed a Form 1 and paid for your tax stamp, you just posted multiple photos of an illegal Short Barrled Rifle. When you added a rifle stock to your Ruger pistol, you turned it into a SBR, even if you added a longer barrel, too. I'd highly recommend that you put your pistol back to a legal configuration and delete all of your posts regarding it. Of course, once something is posted on the Internet, it's impossible to remove all traces of those posts.

I knew you could do some fun things with a 10/22, but this has certainly presented new ideas.

Unless it started as just a receiver that he built in to a pistol and then converted into a rifle, which would be perfectly legal and not require NFA protocols.

I hope that is the case.

Edit:

OK, looks like I jumped the gun on this. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/qa/can-i-lawfully-make-pistol-rifle-without-registering-firearm It seems the change is OK as long as the barrel is at least 16". I was just super worried that the OP just incriminated himself. Sorry for the alarm!

Glad someone else admitted doing this. I get the strangest look and a sigh of digust every time I ask how many they have and if they can bring out 4 or 5 for me to look over.

Do you still have this one? I always liked the looks of it.

To everyone else: This is not mine. It is/was @CraigC's

It's a Charger receiver, which is now a rifle and forever will be. No NFA stamps required.

I do but I've reconfigured it. Right this minute it's in a birch sporter but will end up in the walnut sporter above. I just have to hog out the barrel channel a bit. It also has Leupold 3-9x on it now.

Nice start on your collection. I have over 50 in my collection. Some are for display at shows and others are like golf clubs. Different ones for different shots! Chief AJ is a friend who showed me how he turned them up years age. I even have one that the factory made for me back in 1997 with a special Rosewood Burgundy laminated stock and a factory jeweled bolt.

I'm jealous. My three 10/22s are all box stock except for scopes on two of them. But I like them that way. I'm not for certain but when Remington stopped making the Nylon 66 they said it was because the molds were worn out. I really think the 10/22 just blew them out of the water on sales. They supposedly sold the molds to a south american company and one of my friends has one of the new Nylon 66 rifles and it doesn't look the least bit worn out. But who knows?

You sold a CZ452 for a Ruger 10/22?:what::what::what:
I damn sure did! It was a beautiful and accurate rifle but one can't survive on beauty and accuracy alone. Got tired of trying to get a scope to work that was low enough for proper cheek weld but high enough to clear the bolt handle and the ass-backwards safety never helped. Try as I might, I just couldn't get along with it. The 457 fixes all of that and so I am happy. :D

The two walnut stocked spotters are sweethearts but I have always had a fascination for the Charger and that stainless is awesome! So terribly, but tastefully, Buck Rogers. Love 'em.

I remember reading an issue of Guns, might have been Guns & Ammo, one of the more prominent gun magazines anyway. It had an article in it titled "The Remington Nylon, Americas most ubiquitous 22lr".

I wanted to write in and tell them how terribly off they were. The 10/22 is the reigning champ in the .22lr world, I have owned 3 or 4 of them. I currently own 1 in my favorite configuration, syn/SS but the OP's pics are making me want to do a 10/22 build now. Such an awesome gun. Everybody should own a 10/22......

Here is one that I put together a while back. The receiver is the only remaining Ruger part in the rifle. Shaw custom barrel, Volquartsen match trigger, bolt, rail, and Bell Carlson Anshutz style stock. 100 round drum from GSG.
