Checking out Springfield Armory's website to compare specs on an old gun, I see that they changed their mobile format.

But with that, it looks like all the XD Mod.2 guns (besides xd-s) are gone from the website.

Any one hear of anything? I'm sure with them importing guns, and releasing the hellcat and xdm elite, they had to "trim the fat", so to speak.

I also know they are constantly rotating their catalogue.

Maybe they decided to ditch the "gripzone" then just ditch the gun.

Am I missing something? Not that I'm broken up about it...

Haven't seen or heard of anything but it's probably like you figure, maybe they're eliminating some slow movers or what they perceive to be no longer needed in their product line-up.

You’d think they would keep the mod.2 as a budget version of the xd series, but maybe not. I’ve always thought the xdm to be way more desirable than the xd (mod.2 included) and now that they have an elite version of the xdm it makes it even more so. Like you though, I’m not broken up about it either. Springfield Armory xd(m) isn’t in my personal top 5 poly striker list anymore.

I think in time, maybe further out now due to covid19, you’ll see a whole new line of pistols based off the Hellcat and that will replace the mod2. Seems weird they dropped from website without saying something

I’ve had an original XD 4” Service model in .45 ACP for quite a while now. One of my best shooters and my #1 bug out pistol. Palmetto State Armory has the XD Mod 2 for sale at $369 and I damn near ordered one today in fact. But decided to hold off for now until I fill the 10MM slot with a G20.

If they go any lower I’m thinking I’ll order that Mod 2 just to have.

A friend has the XD Mod 2 subcompact 45, and it's a really nice gun. Compared it side by side with my 9mm Shield and was surprised at how small the XD is. Only about a quarter inch longer and 2 tenths thicker but still capable of holding 9 (+1) . The trigger is decent and it has good sights. I don't think anyone makes a 45 that size with a 10 round capacity. Most others hold 8 + 1 and are a bit longer

I've actually observed that a few times from different companies. The latest and I think biggest bummer of a quiet flatline was the Sig Sauer P227.

I guess it kind of makes sense. If you make a product and it doesn't sell well, it's not like you need to make a big deal about it just going away, unless they will not service or support those guns any more. Then I think owners need to be aware.

Interesting. Looks like they're down to the 3" and 4" 9mm XD.

Ruger is well known for dropping stuff without saying anything, just ends up not being on their website anymore. SIG dropped at least half of their 1911’s off their website lately I noticed as well, seems like it is just something gun manufacturers do.

The XD is the budget version of XD series. Their latest offering was called "Defender" and retailed for $300.

The key to understand here is that HS-2000 still finds military sales internationally, so it's production line remains open and that's where were get our plain XD. The XD-M is also a thing in IDPA. The rest depends on production batches come and go. The reason why XD-E is still for sale, but Mod.2 is not, comes down to Mod.2 selling out the production stock. Nobody wants XD-E and it's languishing in a warehouse and, thus, in the catalog. The story reminds very much about 1921 production Thompsons that were selling from a warehouse all the way to WWII, until the production was re-started.

Yeah, admittedly I kind of forgot about the defender series. Funny thing is I’ve seen XD mod 2’s for right around $300 before all this virus craziness.

I have a XD 9 SC (defender series) and a XDE 9mm. The XD9 is a very good shooter and the best trigger of any gun I've had (9) in the last 6 yrs. i enjoy carrying my XDE as it's thin and easy to conceal even ankle carry if need be. The only difference between the Mos 2 and the XD9 is grip texture, sights, trigger guard, may be missing one other thing. Like I said the trigger is the best, I had a glock fan his eyes got big with surprise when he tested the trigger. He thought I had a trigger job done. But anyway either guns are very good. My son just got the Mod 2 in NYS and raves about it. Grab one before they're gone.

If they decide to drop the price of the XD-E down to the level of their budget guns I would be happy to pick one up.

Wife has an XD Mod2 9mm and a Mod2 45acp. She picked them out, she paid for them. Doubt we would buy another at this point.

SPRINGFIELD ARMORY had 3 lines of double stack magazine pistols. The original XD series which is now sold as the Defender and is a terrific value purchase and was an excellent pistol when it was still at full price. The XDM line was meant to be their upgrade on the XD line and still sells. The XD MOD2 was supposed to be the NEW THING and I think it just did not catch on. Note: they kept the XD line in production. I have had an XD for years and think it is the equal or superior to my GLOCK. I do not like shooting the GLOCK 26 very much. I can do it and my duty gun is a GLOCK 19, but the XD9 Sub Compact is a very nice compact 9m.m. that shoots as well as my GLOCK 19.

I would like to see a XD9 Sub Compact frame with a 3.8 inch barrel like SPRINGFIELD ARMORY used to have on their XDM line. The choice of a short grip and magazine for carry and a full size for a house gun is very convenient and useful.

Jim

I wouldn't be surprised to see the mod 2's return at some point, without the stupid Grip Zone lettering and possibly with other slight changes
