Agreed to buy another Enfield today

I agreed to buy a gun today. Hopped on to a local forum that I hadn’t been on in months and saw there was an Enfield for sale for $350

I sent the seller a PM with my cell number and said I was interested.
A few hours later my phone rang and it was the seller. We started talking and come to find out, I had repaired his Sporter Krag stock last year.
He was at work and didn’t remember the manufacture of the Enfield but said it was dated 1915 and was in good shape other then an Arsenal repair on the fore stock by the action.
He told me that I gave him a great deal on the repair of his Krag stock that he would sell me the Enfield for $300.
We’re supposed to meet tomorrow.

Congrats...... I like those and I'm still kicking myself for selling the one I had last year in a fit of retirement motivated downsizing. They're neat rifles and they kind of grow on you. Wait till you see how fast you can rapid fire one of those. Probably one of the fastest cycling bolt guns ever made. If that thing's as good as it looks in the picture you got a good deal. Mine sold for $475. bucks at a local auction house last September, ( they got 20% of it for commission). I miss it. Always felt a connection to those, as my paternal grandfather served in the Canadian Machine Gun Corps during World War One and spent 17 months in France. Eagerly waiting for a report on that one when you get it.

I bought a Number 4 last week but haven't been able to pick it up yet due to the backlog in background checks by the CBI here in Colorado. The forestock has been cut down but the bayonet lug is still in place so I hope to get new furniture to put it back in original condition after I get possession. Nice find though! I just can't resist an old warhorse.

That's a great deal. My great uncle was able to keep his WWII service rifle, an SMLE. It was the first gun I ever shot, and it looked a lot like that. I've got a couple over the years, you got an awesome deal!

I paid that much five years ago for one sound but rode hard with mismatched numbers. You did very well, as I'm sure you know. I love those old Enfields.

Not too bad a deal, couple of years ago, I was at my LGS when low and behold I gazed upon a very pristine MKIV Enfield made in 1955. The guy behind the counter told me it just came in the other day, and the first $230.00 OTD would take it. Needless to say, I fondled that weapon as if it were a beautiful blond, and noted that without further ado, I unleashed my wallet to the $230.00. I had some photos of it here back then. BTW that is one accurate rifle, even with the primitive sights.

Finished up the deal on the rifle today.
It’s a 1915 London Small Arms.

The two cracks at the rear of the fore stock are minor but do need to be fixed.

If you look closely you can see where glue was used to repair the right side. I’ll fix it up correctly so that it doesn’t come apart down the road.

I am thinking as this thing goes on the people that are out of work are going to start to need to sell things off....it is a shame but is what it is.

I am pretty sure you are in the same "business" as I am, we are slowing down quite a bit, people at home means the dirt bags are not busting into homes, car stops are way down....and I am really slowing down as being a desk jockey.

Are you slowing down as well?

Love my Enfield. Can ring an 12 inch plate at 400 yds to the point of boredom. Reminds me that i gotta roll some more ammo onw of these days.

The guy I bought it from is an EMT and is still working full time. But you are right. People will start selling things while they are out of work.
And yes, work has slowed down. Uniform Patrol Officers are not being proactive and fewer guns are being picked up.

Gunny, you must have a bottomless pit of cash for all your purchases. Sweet. That is one nice looking Enfield. I purchased one with the wire reinforcements on the stock in 1993. I saw it earlier and later on met the guy at a parking garage in Albuquerque. He put the rifle in my trunk. When I got home I noted that it was cocked. Cycled the bolt and out popped a live round. A couple years ago I purchased an almost unissued No 4 from post WW2.

Wife used your leash tonight. Dogs love it.

Don’t have a bottomless pit of cash but I don’t have any bills other then my low house note.
I was going to work a few gun shows to sell some more dog leashes, but that’s on hold for now.

I was teasing about the cash. Seems your always stumbling upon a good deal. Is the Enfield half as good as it looks in the picture? Used to seeing them, but not as good. My No 1 looks like it's been to a war and back.

I’ve got a few No1’s in my collection, and some don’t look as good as this one. Might pull them out for a group pic, but that will have to be for another topic.
