I owned a Beretta 92fs a few years ago and traded it and some cash for a SAA. I have an opportunity to trade a nib gp100 for a nib 92fs. I feel it's a fair trade as I will most likely never shoot the ruger any way.

I have both. If I had to get rid of one, it would be the GP100. That being said, I have other Ruger revolvers. I view the Beretta a better defensive gun for the obvious reasons.

Why did you get rid of the 92? Have you regretted it? If yes then make the trade. If no then sell or trade the Ruger for something else you may want more. To me you traded away the 92 for a reason so not sure you’ll be happy long term having one again.

Not sure about the dilemma either. Got to ask what made you get the GP100 in the first place if you still haven't shot it and don't have any plans to do so now or in the near future. On the other hand I can totally understand trading the Model 92 for a Colt SAA as I would make that deal in a heartbeat! So I guess it comes down to wanting another Model 92 more than keeping the GP 100 around. That being the case I would say make the deal if it makes you happy!

I think in a more or less all-things-being-equal sense, I would much rather have the Beretta than the GP.

Eventually the 92 will go the way of the High Power and others when the numbers no longer make sense to Beretta. I wonder if GPs will ever be hard to get and would it even matter to you if they were?

Sounds like you may have a tinge of regret for letting the last Beretta go regardless how much you like the SAA.

Todd.

The GP100 and the Beretta 92 make for a real apples and oranges scenario. Your post title was dilemma , but in the op you did not pose a dilemma.
If you are soliciting advise on the proposed trade , hard to say , given the fact that you did not share much in the way of criteria , your intended use for the gun , etc.
Me , I'd want the Beretta. As an aside , the price for 92 variants seems to be on the rise.

I would go with the BERETTA 92. It is a proven weapon (so is the GP-100). You have 16 shots instead of 6. The GP-100 is probably no easier, if not harder to carry concealed. I own both and would choose the 92 for defense, as a car or house gun every time. Especially now that you have so many choices. You can get full size, compact, regular grip or VERTEC grip (my choice). The only thing missing is the old 8 shot compact M model.

I'd like both guns but, if I already had the Ruger, I wouldn't trade it for the Beretta. That's my own preference, as I like the "steel wheel" guns a lot. There are enough of the 92 Berettas around that I'd find another way to get one.

For me, neither would be primarily for defense, as those bases are already well-covered.

I feel it's a fair trade as I will most likely never shoot the ruger any way.

It's a fair trade since they both sell OTD for about the same. At least around here.

You say you don't shoot the Ruger. Will you shoot the Beretta?

Why did you get the Ruger in the first place and then never shot it?

As for me, I have to agree with Alex........

I would do that in a heartbeat.

Old horse trader quote. “ A good deal is when both parties walk away happy”. You sound reluctant, might not be happy.
My self, yes I’d make the trade.
