I picked this up at an online auction. It was listed merely as an 870 magnum so it went for a song. I have oiled it and it appears to be unfired after it left the factory. Can anybody give me more information on this rare bird other than what I can find on the internet?

Not sure what other information you are looking for. The internet has literally everything one would want to know about this model.

I was hoping at the least to find out how many were made and what years. I have not been able to find that. Yes you're right there is lots of information about the coating and other specifics.

The Remington marine magnum has been around for a long time. Every example of it I have seen is Nickle plated to resist corrosion. The finish on that gun appears to be the standard black oxide that is on Remington express and other low cost models. It's a police/ riot gun style shot gun with an 18"?? barrel and an extended magazine tube. So a police model using a marine magnum marked receiver.

The black oxide finish is either a low cost option, or some special configuration as Remington was going out of business and using up parts. So it could be a rare collector variation.:what:

It appears to be a rare gun. I believe it was only made in 2005/2006. It has a TriNyte coating over the standard Marine Magnum coating. The serial number prefix is "AB" which I am not sure was used on other guns.
