Any of you MEN buy a youth rifle for yourself?

Buy what you say buy no, but i did build a light AR pistol for the wife that will feature a 22lr conversion and eventually will get another for myself. For now I can’t tell her I’m getting more parts after the build i just finished ;)

I did so multiple times over the years. My saddle rifle for a long time was a Lan R700 youth in 7-08, I kept a Win 94 Trapper with a youth LOP in my truck for a long time as well - both in 357mag and 30-30. I bought a R870 youth and restocked it with an adult buttstock at one point as well because it was cheaper to do so than buying a “tactical” police model with a short barrel - and the youth model has screw in chokes.

Today; honestly I spend more money and just build what I want for barrel length and rifle weight, then tag on a stock which fits me as appropriate.

I’ve got a Browning A bolt micro 7mm-08 LH. I’m a pretty good size guy and love the gun. The measurements are the key, and LOP and drop at comb and heel measurements are only several 16ths off from a full size rifle. Negligible differences in the grand scheme. Key is to know the differences and handle both to see for yourself.

I am waiting for my daughter to outgrow the 452 Scout. Not sure why, but I love that little rifle. I secretly bought another stock for it, hers is pink, and switch them out when no one is looking. Then I take her rifle out for a relaxing afternoon of plinking. She almost caught me one time when I didn't have time to clean it. She picked up and asked how it got dirty sitting in the safe.....

I am also partial to compact lever actions. I just happen to be cleaning up my 1894 P, CP and 336 LTS for some shooting next week. I am not sure if they count for youth guns, but definitely compact.

The CZ Scouts are awesome and I highly recommend them.

I bought one of these .22lr Thompson Centers for my daughter when she was very young. I’ve used it for more humane kills than any other. It’s like a funky pistol with a pretty muffled sound shooting subsonic.

My 6’3 15 year old still prefers his Mossberg 500 bantam in 20 over his Montefeltro and BPS trap for clay games. I don’t know how or why, but he still gets pretty close to my scores (the bar is pretty low, truth-be-told).

I have a Stevens 89 I bought for $30 in 1988 at a gun show. It's basically a Favorite (lever-actuated, falling-block .22)) dressed up a bit more to look like a "real" lever gun, complete with a fake magazine tube. Used to love shooting it in my back yard when I lived in a less-developed part of town.

I picked up a crickett for $45 for the grandkids to use, but had all sorts of fun sighting it in. Same with an Armscor 140y. And my favorite pheasant gun is a Beretta 391 youth model. I say enjoy whatever makes you happy.

My son wants a Stevens 301 compact for Xmas. If Santa brings it, I’ll probably end up loving it too. Single shot 20 ga is a perfect meat gun. Squirrels beware.. lol
