Lemme see your Barbecue Gun!!

Most of my guns are boring, scratched and utilitarian. Not fun for barbecues.

So if I had to choose I’d need to buy some new leather for one of these.

Today I got up and had coffee without a thought of buying a gun-related product. Thanks to this thread that has now changed. Well, I'm not going to get a BBQ gun because I have two kids in college who need to drop off the family payroll first. However, some of you guys have awesome leather and are directly responsible for me spending quite a bit of money this morning after I realized my leather doesn't stack up. I want to look my best just in case we have a THR barbecue. I hope you are proud of yourselves. :neener:

A retired LE friend made the belt and rig. The buckle is from a belt my Mom gave my Dad back in the 40s, and he plumb wore it out. The spurs were his too.
The hat was a birthday present from my parents for my 21st birthday. I'm 78.

Or maybe this one....

I guess a lot of folks don't get it. A Texas BBQ gun is the type worn to a fancy Texas BBQ. These are formal affairs in their very specific context. Attended by oil men, cattlemen and maybe some Texas Ranger types. The men wear suits, their best hat and their nicest dress boots. The BBQ gun is a show off piece.

CDW4ME gets it. If you doubt he does, check out his example of a BBQ pistol in post # 5. Some Texans are just more "practical" than others.

I have a few guns that come close but do not fit the definition in the strictest sense.

I don't know how "strict" the grade is but your examples would pass with flying colors at our BBQ events here in Ohio-of course we serve Smores as sides at our wiener roasts. And if it's a really fancy party, we upgrade our PBRs to beers made by the oldest brewery in America-Yuengling.

This is a very interesting topic/thread, with some very pretty sidearms! In practice/reality, the only handguns I ever recall having at a barbeque were either the S&W shield I carry every day, or my beat up Glock 23 I carry as a hunting sidearm, and I was eating barbecue in conjunction with some type of hunting. Very boring guns and everyone here knows what they look like- just like every other one ever made, so I won't clutter up this thread with pictures of them. What can I say, I am Florida man.
But if I was going to carry a special handgun to a bbq just to have a pretty gun on my belt, it would be this one- which is the prettiest handgun I own that is also "useful". This would probably be the best use for this pistol, since I don't really use it for anything anyway, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it.

A person must realize the leather carrying the barbecue gun is just as important as the firearm itself.View attachment 1066389

I didn't realise Lone Star beer still existed. Seeing it brings back memories of a high school trip to San Antone that had Lone Star beer involved. No guns but I did return home with a brand new push button Italian stiletto knife which turned out to be total junk. I still have it as a keepsake.
