Any Marlin experts here?
Did Marlin ever make a carbine version of the Glenfield 25?
I came by a 1981 vintage Glenfield 25 with a barrel that is 18” long.
I’ve not seen one with a short barrel like that before and was wondering if it was a factory option or if a gunsmith shortened a standard barrel.
I’m thinking this may have been a gunsmith’s project since the trigger measures a consistent 2 ½ lb.
Yes, it’s a good shooter.

I don't think they marketed an official carbine per se, but they had a single shot kid's version with a shorter barrel and stock.

Take a good look at the front sight on yours -- if the barrel was shortened there may be a clue there. My SWAG would be that it was shortened.

I shortened my own Glenfield M25 a few inches to remove some muzzle damage -- my gunsmith's recrown job might fool some people:

Your muzzle crown looks much nicer than ones I've seen on Marlin factory .22 barrels! If it is a cut-down job, it was well done.

You make a good point. I agree it doesn’t look like the factory profile I’m accustomed to seeing on this type of rifle so it’s looking more like a gunsmith’s project.
