$299 cheap find of the month

Back in 1993 I got a brand new Marlin 336 for $100. I haven’t won the lottery or gotten a smokin’ deal since then. I have gotten some okay deals but nothing impressive. If that Marlin was it for great deals I can live with that. ;)
JM Marlin $100 then … $800 today!

I thought I'd gotten a good deal earlier this year with the one I got but you got the Great Deal Sir.
They are a solid, tough and well made pistol. Mine shoots well too.
I was looking for a target .357 too. Shot a New Python a week early and told myself I needed a .357 target gun!

Great find !
Here’s a story about these guns.
I used to take a 2-3/4” Speed Six fly-fishing with me in No. Cal., (and being rather clumsy) would often end up on my butt in the creek.
It only takes about a minute to field strip these guns to get the water out, followed by a hose-down with WD-40 (say what you want, mine never rusted), wipe and reassemble…just a few minutes spent.
One day, just for something different, I opted for a S&W 13 (same holster, same speed loaders btw).
Ended up on butt/in creek…getting that one apart, cleaned and protected, (including digging out the tools I needed) took over an hour.
The Ruger comes apart for cleaning with only a flat-bladed screwdriver, and the hammer strut pin that is stored inside of the roll pin in the butt…Truly fantastic design !

I like it… I heard you can take one apart with a dime!

Speed Six is on my list!

these guns are way cheaper than Colt’s, Model 19’s, Bill Grover, Korth

I have a Speed-Six and a Security-Six both in stainless steel. Those Pachmayr grips may not be pretty like figured walnut but they work very well. My Security Six has a set of Grippers on it like yours and my Speed-Six has a set of Pachmayr Compacs on it. When I'm gone these to will pass on to my heirs until then they're MINE.

The take down pin that used to be stored in some grip
models (Lett/Altamont) is no longer included. So have
a paper clip handy or small punch.

And remember about "rubber" grips; they attract moisture
so remove periodically and check for rust.

For the record, I much prefer the GP100 line; a bit bigger but
not much heavier than the Security Six line. The GP100 like
the S&W L-frame are really the kings for shooting .357s. And
for those weird ones out there, the GP100 is also available in
10mm with moonclips.

10% tax rate, Wow.

I have no experience with Ruger's DA guns but the rumor here is that they are about as durable as an anvil. That is a quality anvil, not one of the chinesium cast things. You did good.
no state income tax here in Washington (yet), gotta pay for the roads somehow

I hope my Boy don’t sell my collection for a Yoga Machine! might put that in my will

Just as good if not better. Triggers on newer ones, TO ME, seem better
right out of the box. But I often replace trigger return spring with a
10 pound one (factory is 12 pound) but leave the 14 pound hammer spring
alone. Again, that's FOR ME. (CAUTION, once trigger housing is out
of the gun, DO NOT PULL the trigger; two tiny springs will be launched.
Understand the schematic before doing too much with the gun.)

But by older vs. newer I interpret that to mean built before 2000 for older
rather than since 2000. But it probably truly doesn't matter.

Costs more but I'm a fan of the Match Champion; like the half lug, slightly
lighter weight. And I've found the issued wood grip on the MC to be
perfect FOR ME in double action trigger finger reach and positoning.
And the grips work very well FOR ME in handling .357s.

Match Champion is issued in both fixed and adjustable sights. This is the ajustrable.

I like the look of the Match too!

Too bad you missed this fine example of a Speed Six on GB a few weeks ago. Multiple bidders went for $367 + $40 shipping + tax+ transfer. Don't see many painted ones on the market anymore.

CAN’t STOP LAUGHING!!!

were did they drag that out from… Magnet fishing from the bottom of a river! Refinished with nail polish for the MURDER gun look. AND multiple bidders too!

$367+40+tx+Transfer = Just buy a New Gun already.

People say that Ruger Six-Series revolvers are built like tanks.

Those people are wrong.

Tanks are built like Ruger Six-Series revolvers.
Love that it bro!

Funny how I when from Colt SAA Clone, to Remington Cap&ball, to a real Colt SAA, then to Colt Targets, Then to Smith, and finally to Ruger!

Nice pick up, that gun will shoot until the cows come home. I wouldn't spend the money to reblue, everybody needs a "beater" that you don't have to baby.
