The semi-hidden screw in the front of the trigger guard provides spring tension and positioning for the cylinder stop. Not necessary to remove, normally. You got lucky!

Frogfurr, congrats on having a fine, heirloom K-22 and approaching responsible maintenance. I, too, inherited a 5 screw K-22 Masterpiece (a 1955) from my father-in-law a few years ago. The first thing I did was buy Kuhnhausen's book. You will love it! I also got the factory letter for it so when I hand it down to my grandsons, they will have even more documentation from the firearm acquired new by the great grandfather. BYW, from his memory and from the factory letter, he bought it from the Chillicothe Hardware Store in Chillicothe, Oh. in 1955.
