TV Jerk Charged for Numerous Hunting Violations

And yet, not particularly egregious infractions. Quite guilty of course. But seems more like less objectionable stupidity than greedy with intent. Just seems less d-b-ish than other pseudo-celeb shenanigans.

Hunting in the wrong area in a wilderness setting can be difficult to avoid. I have a little sympathy for that. But allowing someone else to use your tag to take game is one of those things he should have known about. I understand that it is legal in some places, but not most.

It is easy to make the occasional mistake, but I'm seeing a pattern here that looks like someone trying to break the rules rather than a simple mistake.

With a $31,000 hit on his bank account, I'm sure he will be more careful in the future. His "apology" stated that he ONLY was convicted on a bear hunt in B.C. and a sheep hunt and a moose hunt in Alberta therefore he is not a blatant rules breaker.
He also has 2 other charges pending.

When you read the list of violations he and his wife were charged with, it's tough to say he made an honest mistake on all charges. Maybe one or two, but how do you hunt without a license, or out of season and not know you're breaking the law? Just what area anywhere allows hunting without a license, or out of season? Even a middle schooler would know better. Can they really be that ignorant?

In the U.S., hunting is pretty much a privilege--not saying that's how it should be, necessarily, but that's how it is. If you want to do it, it's your responsibility to do it right. That can be complicated and the rules might not make sense, but that doesn't change the law. If you don't do it right and get caught (or film yourself breaking the regs) you can expect to pay fines and maybe lose equipment. People who don't want to pay fines and lose equipment and who don't or can't follow the rules should find something else to do with their time.

Typical FUDD comment

....typical comment by the ignorant and naive. Over the years, ol' Uncle Ted has been charged in three different states for numerous wildlife violations and always used the same defense. "I didn't know". In the California case, he was caught because he showed 11 different violations on one of his T.V. shows. Ignorance is not bliss. Not when it comes to hunting.

Is this guy and his wife Mr. and Mrs. Joe-Sixpack, making fly by night videos and posting these on the internet hoping the platform will pay him because he has a lot of subscribed viewers OR is this a guy and his wife that have a few folks on his show's production staff? There is a HUGE difference from what I observe between two people who go on some hunts, with a couple GoPro cameras, and post a video they slapped together in the basement on their PC, VS a couple referred to in the press as a "TV show host". Missing all those violations in one year of hunting is from rushing to produce the TV product, not average hunting mistakes, I'd argue.

Apparently, the Canadian courts judged the situation the same.

Just what area allows hunting without a license? Some states do for vermin on private property, but the exceptions are just that compared to the norms of the rest of the country or with western countries.

Would think that someone who has a Televised show would know what the hell they are doing??

They might... you think $31k could have bought you international advertising that would get you quoted and discussed on multiple forums like this one? We're feeding the machine with each view/click of this post...
