It's for a 24" cowboy. It was terrible in 357 mag so maybe it's closer to the .410 slugs it was designed for. The hogden listing isn't the same bullet, but the data runs were...
I've worked up hot 45 Colt for my Henry with Lil Gun. It worked OK, I just ended up with better accuracy using AA9. Your guns may like it just fine or better, you know how that goes. If I didn't have AA9, I'd sure as heck use the Lil Gun...it definitely works better in 45C than H110 IMHO. I also found it lacking for 357...a max load gave me stupid velocity and great accuracy out of my Coonan, but it would not lock the slide on last round, and would short stroke once in a while unless I ran the 38 spring in it. Got far better results with AA9 there as well.
I love #9 and I'm at a loss what else to do with lilgun. I've never bought h110/296 and when this pound of lil gun is gone good riddance. N110 seems the best deal currently in mag powder, because everyone else plum lost their minds
That's kind of where I ended up with Lil Gun. I used it quite a while in 50 BW and 300 BLK, enough to empty 2 or 3 4lb jugs, but then discovered SW Blackout and SOCOM powders, which metered better and produced better accuracy for 1/4 the price (then). I found things it excelled at, and things it did ok, but it just didn't wow me enough to justify the cost over AA and SW powders.
I definitely don't mag dump so that isn't a factor for me. I slow fire trying to keep heat down and save the throats. I knew it was hot so I intended it for hunting. It still may go to that if I can find a reasonable load...
For sure. When I was working with it in 450 Bushmaster I had to give it a longer cool down period than I do for others. I've never run across any loads for it in 45C, but then again I never looked. Could most likely use data for 44 Magnum with LG, and see how it goes
I never got the velocity numbers from Lil' Gun that made it difficult to walk away from. Problem was, once I got to the higher end of the velocity spectrum with Lil Gun, accuracy went downhill. Thus, when I heard of the excessive erosion problems, combined with the excessive heat I experienced with both handguns and PC carbines, I went back to my old standbys. What I have found with my PC carbines, is that my best accuracy comes from IMR4227. While it's velocities will never match those of H110/W296, the accuracy more than makes up for it. Seems to be much less temperature sensitive than H110/W296 also. The difference in velocity from a max load of H110/W296 and IMR4227 under a 240 gr jacketed in my 77/44, is only about 75fps, and is about the same velocity I get from N110 and AA9. None of which, like Lil Gun, turn the lil' carbine into anything more than a 100 yard deer gun.

I've heard that about 4227 from numerous sources, like John Taffin. No idea what it is that makes it that way but for some reason I never tried it. Maybe it's time to start looking for a pound.
I have test loads assembled for my 45c 280 noe cast bullet with imr 4227. I should have shot them today but I was focused on 6x45. Probably run those next weekend hopefully...
