Glock or 1911?

You can't drop a 1911 in a river, freeze it, smear it with mud, run an SUV over it, and fire 100 rounds flawlessly out of it. Glocks, on the other hand, can handle that. So HA! to all you 1911 people.

Bet me?

The last Glock owner that got into a "shoot to the first jam" contest with my 1911 lost after 150 rounds.

Once you buy a Glock you really can't do much with it. You're stuck with a ugly, plastic brick with cheep sights and a gawd-awful trigger. Can't reload for them with out blowing yourself up.

There are more type of 1911's out there for more types of shooting than any other gun. Glock will never be able to do that. They will make a wonderful KABOOM sound for you.

Since you can't decide between a 1911 and a Glock, and Glocks & 1911's are chambered in 9mm and .45 ACP.......

We had better move on to another important underlying question in your quest for the holy grail of handguns.
Which is better 9mm or .45 ACP???

:neener:
:D

Chicken or Beef, Blondes or Brunettes?

The world is a big place, and many things in it are good. Why does one have to choose between 1911s and Glocks?

If you want to be a well-rounded gun nut, you will have one or more of every different brand, caliber or type of handgun, just for the variety of experience. I can understand disposing of those that are not functional or reliable, but both Glocks and 1911s have many good features and are admired by large numbers of users. Why not own and shoot both, and let them coexist peacefully in your safe? You don't have to take a strong stand in favor of one and against the other.

When I was young and foolish, I started with 1911s, double and single action revolvers, and single action .22 autos. I gradually adopted some DA/SA semiautos. Later in life I boldly bought a Glock, and then another one. I still have more 1911s than Glocks, but admire both types and feel no need to elevate one to "most preferred" status. They all work.

Get a direct line to the Stratigic Air Command. They'll get the job done right ;)

I have both a Glock and a 1911. I say that neither can hold a candle to my CZs!

Whoo hoo! Another 1st! :D

1911. If a Glock KABOOMS it will blow your head clean off. Do you feel lucky? Well do 'ya?

That all depends. I heard the glocks can penetrate dual layers of duct taped ceramic trauma plates, while just the 1911 concussion is enough to kill a man without hitting him with the actual bullet (I read that if a man is unfortunate to get hit by a .45 that it turns him into giblets). It's a tough choice.

Reasons to get a glock:

They are all plastic (very Durable)
Because they are all plastic they go through metal detectors
Not one, from Ser.#1 to today, has ever malfunctioned
You don't need to clean them or take care of them because they will never malfunction
They can be frozen in liquid nitrogen and immediately be fired upon surfacing
You can encase it in concrete and it will actually shoot its own way out and put itself back in your hands
They shoot underwater
They are accurate
They are even more accurate when shot underwater
When under water and out of ammo, they can be used as a floatation device
When using as a floatation device, don't worry about rust--they are impervious to any and all elements (even deep space)
They shoot very accurately in deep space, especially if it is a C model
They have the best triggers
Their triggers were specialy designed for deep space and deep sea usage
Their black
Their black finish was specially designed so that in deep space, the enemy won't see you coming

..... What reason is there not to get a glock?

..... Oh yeah, it's still not a 1911.

Bring in the new year with VARIETY! 1911's are pretty...can be customized well...come in many models etc.
A Glock......is a Glock.

I'd much rather caress and cuddle up to a 1911! They're beautiful.

i was considering the glock but i never was convinced that they really weren't Kabooooming.

I am not sure that they aren't...but how do you know? :banghead:

Revolver : blue steel thingy with a cylinder that rotates on axis. No mags, no safeties, no night sights...pull trigger , "bang" - repeat.
Ahhhh... The original "point and click" interface :p

Glock or 1911?
How about their love child? The springfield XD? :neener: Grip safety, nice trigger, plenty of plastic, it has "Springfield" stamped on it, DAO, Cheaper than a good 1911, Hi-cap mags, and I'd be willing to bet you could run it over with an SUV... :D

Glock or 1911?

Python. ;)

Insert Ferris Bueller "it is so choice" soliloquy here.

PS: After a few beers (let's assume guns unloaded), you may be able to convince yourself that the deep blue finish is for tactical low-light operations at sunset.
