Thanks for the responses to my CZ75 Vs Ruger P95 Thread. :)

I decided on a CZ but now I need to choose between the CZ75B and the P01. It's going to be mainly a range and beater piece.

Which is more reliable and accurate?

They are both essentiallly the same action and should be equally reliable. I have both, shoot both a lot, and have never had a malfunction with either pistol. When developing the P-01, CZ put it through some really difficult development tests (largely to satisfy NATO) and it passed with flying colors. Based on that I suspect that it might be a better choice if, indeed, it is to become a "beater" pistol. AS far as accuracy is concerned I have not found much difference between the two.

If just for range, then the CZ75B is great. The PO1 is fantastic, but it is more a CCW piece. if you like SA action, the the CZ75b SA is a very neat range gun. Hey, buy ANY CZ - you should be happy! Have you had a chnace to handle a CZ yet? Pick it up first, and see how it fits - fits me like a custom made glove...

I've tried nearly every CZ except the CZ100 and the high end CZ IPSC. :) I had really bad experiences with a CZ75 pre-B and a CZ75 Compact but I really like CZ's feel and accuracy.

Most recently I tried my buddy's CZ40P and I was amazed at its accuracy. It was even more accurate than his .40 SIG P229, but he's gotten some jams. :( If it wasn't for the jams I would've already bought a CZ40P.

I have the PCR and CZ-75B. Either the P-01, PCR or 75B will work, but I'd get a CZ-75 Retro. Original looks, updated internals. Its the best of both worlds. If not, get the B, PCR, or P-01. Can't go wrong.

I have both the 75B and P-01 and love both - accurate, a joy to shoot. I do think, in my hands at least, that the P-01 has less recoil, perhaps due to the heavier nose (?) than the 75B. Both great guns and can't go wrong with either.

What other 9mm pistol would you compare the CZ 75B (or P-01) grip to? A BHP, Beretta, etc? I have smallish hands and, while I can grip the BHP comfortably, the Beretta and Sig 226 are a bit too big. I have not been able to handle a 75B but have considered getting one if the grip is not too "fat". Thanks!

My hands aren't all that large either, and my CZ 75B Tactical fits my hands great. I also find my 226 ST grip a little large, but it shoots amazingly well anyways. I'm pretty sure you'll find that the CZ 75B will be very comfortable in your hands.

I find my 75B Tactical to be more accurate than my P-01. I'm pretty sure it's the extra sight radius.

The CZ-75B is very Hi-Powerish in the shape and feel of its grip. If you like the feel of a Hi-Power, you'll like the CZ. I really like the look of the new CZ 75 "Retro" that is a throwback to the "pre-B" CZ's, but with the current firing pin safety in place. One of those, with a single action trigger installed, would be very nice. If I can find out for sure that they have a steel frame, and not the alloy frame, then I will pop for it immediately. Maybe this will give me an excuse to finally try some of Hakan's grips.

Prof:

The CZ is very HP-ish in look and size but the grip is a bit larger, and folks with small hands or short fingers have problems with the DA trigger. (Which would make the P-01 or the PCR less attractive to you, as both are decocker versions that MUST start hammer down -- or from the half-cock notch.)

If you're comfortable carrying and starting from "cocked and locked" the standard CZ-75B or Compact should be fine.

But TRY the DA trigger before you buy.

I have a 75 BD, 75 compact and an 85 combat. I had the po-1 and the 85 side by side when I chose the 85. No problems with any of them. They RUN well. I could see a Po-1 or an 83 in the future if I get the money up?! Good luck...

If it's going to be used as a range gun for the most part, I'd go with the CZ75B. If you think you might carry it any, go for the P-01.

FWIW, I've got a 40P that's been flawless. Way more accurate than I am, and an absolute steal at $300. I changed the ugly grip screws and added a full-length guide rod, but other than that it's stock.

I have the CZ 75B and like it a lot. My only complaint is the sights are small. I have shot the POI and really like it too, the sights seemed better if my memory serves me. Depends if you want a full size or not.

Beater/range piece? Bone stock 75B for me. All steel frame, the PO1 is alloy Not that there's anything wrong with that, but the steel 75B can, in a pinch, be used as an improvised HTH weapon. It's Eastern Bloc, after all. ;)

Id get a 75B SA if it were me.......my FAVORITE Gun......yehaa.
The PO1 is a great carry...or the PCR is even better........

Or you could just get a Sig............:what:...............Ok KIDDING! :D

Shoot well.

It's going to be mainly a range and beater piece.

75B, because it's cheaper and just as accurate. Excellent car or house gun. Retro will work fine, too, obviuously ;).

I had really bad experiences with a CZ75 pre-B and a CZ75 Compact

Please share. I'm definitely curious - if they were so bad why are you considering a CZ now?

Seraph,
Contact Larry @ Shoot Smart Sports (407)417-5127. He can fill you in on all the spec's on the CZ75 Retro. I ordered one from him last friday. Basically the 75 Retro is a 75B with external differences to make it look like the pre B model such as, spur hammer, rounded trigger guard, grip straps front and rear. Construction is all steel. give him a call.

I have a CZ-75B SA for the range and am going to get a P-01 for carry.

That's exactly my answer as well. 75B SA as a dedicated range gun or standard steel DA/SA 75B as a combo range gun/home gun if you aren't 100% comfortable with single action. For a carry gun, the PCR (or very similar P01) is my top choice.

I've never used the 100, 40 or 83 but you really can't go wrong with a CZ.

I went through the same delima. I ended up with both. :) I kept this one.

Finish is more durable, I could shoot it more acurately, and I liked the manual safety.
