Yup:

Heavy for caliber bullets usually outperform the light-weights and the top 3 performing self defense rounds are:

* Double Tap
* Ranger T
* Golden Saber

It depends... in .45 its Federal Hydra Shock, in .357 it's a handlaod or Hydra Shock... in 9mm it's 115gr Winchester SilverTip or PMC Starfire.

Depends on caliber. In 9mm I like the Black Hills 124gr+p Gold Dot loading, and in 45acp I am currently using 230gr Hydrashoks. I do however, want to try the Hornady TAP loads in both calibers, as I have heard good things about this load.

Cor-Bon 115gr JHP +P (9mm) for me (S&W 3913LS). My wife prefers Federal 124gr Hydra-Shok JHP's (Glock 26).

I'd like to carry Ranger Ts but I've never shot enough of them to have complete confidence to actually carry them.

I like 124 Gr +P Gold Dots in 9mm and and standard pressure 230 Gr Golden Sabers in 45.

My FN Forty-Nine in .40 S&W carries 180g Gold Dots
I am contemplating a switch to a lighter bullet though.

CZ75B in 9mm gets 124 grain Gold Dots

Makarov (.380auto) gets Winchester 95g Supreme SXT.

Personally I like the Speer Gold Dots. In the various calibers that I carry each have done a fine job in my "not so scientific" testing. They go bang when you want and the bullets expand nicely.

Federal EFMJs in 9x19. They are a leftover from the time when JHPs were still banned here in Germany. Currently I do not plan to replace them with hollow points of any kind.

Voted "Other" as the main carry/defence gun is FiveseveN and it wields 5.7x28 (with SS190 or SS192, of course)

90gr Hydrashok in the .380. 124gr Gold Dots in the 9mm's and 165gr in the .40.CorBon 115gr in the .357SIG.Winchester +P 158 LSWC-HP in the .38's.Not much of a real rhyme or reason other than they function well in the guns and should funtion fairly well in any BG's that might need to sample them.

For self defense in most calibers, I prefer:

* Double Tap Gold Dots
* Ranger T
* Golden Sabers

.45 ACP Speer 200 gr Ashtrays,

.38 Special Remington 125gr Nyclads (almost out)

9 mm x 19 124 gr Winchester White Box HPs to be replaced with WW Silvertips ASAP.

.357 145 gr Winchester Silvertips

Geoff
Who is experimenting with various loads. :cool:

I carry:

165gr Golden Sabers in my CZ40B

230gr Golden Sabers in my 1911s (sometimes a govt model, sometimes a CCO)

124gr Pro-loads (uses Gold Dot bullets) in my CZ-75B, but I hardly ever use it as a CCW.

I also use 135gr Gold Dots in my S&W 642 "pocket gun"
