The little Ruger is about the only DA revolver that I would own.
Years of problems with S&Ws and Colts has put me firmly in the Ruger camp!

We have actually had more than one other thread before to do with SP pics but - can't remember links so - well - let's have another I guess! :)

Great small revo's - basically for me tough-as-nails Ruger equivalents of J frames ! I personally like the weight and robustness tho as most folks find, the triggers are a bit coarse. Use does tho improve them over time.

Very nice. I've shot a 3 incher before..like the 2 incher for my needs.

.22lr SP?

Anybody have the 2-1/4" SP in .22lr? Would this make a good plinker or fun gun at the range? I know it's overengineered for .22, but I like Rugers and the price seems right on the one I found.

When did they stop making the 2-1/4" .22? Seems like they were making the 4" bbl last, but stopped the short bbl before that...

I've got 2 three incher SP101s (one in 9mm and one in .357). I love em both. Don't have any pictures, though. Might wait around and see if DHart has any (his stuff is always really good).

Posted this before but its worth another look. Gemini Customs package for my SP101. I highly recommend it

This one has the target gray finish with CT lasergrips.

My gal shoots it better than I do.

Okay okay that's it. I've been looking at photos of the SP101 for the past three years and I've had it. I'm going to buy one. Either today or tommorow. You win. I can't hold out any more.

I have posted pics of my baby before, but what the hell, here it is again...

Just curious, I see a see a lot of 2" SPs with hammers. When I was looking to carry, I decided against models like the S&W 60 because I didn't want snagging -- so I bought the SP DAO. Do those of you with the single/double action SPs have any concerns about catching on your clothes when you draw?

this is a pic of my 2 rugers. the sp101 is a 3" hammerless. the other is a .308.

SP101s are, indeed, the bomb. Dirt tough, shootable little revolvers that can handle .357 Magnum ammo for real. (Unless you get the .32 Mag version like I did. :)) They are also quite handsome, especially the 3" version.

Two hints. First, while the trigger action is often "coarse" out of the box, mine proved very responsive to gunsmithing. It has a nice smooth DA pull now that's not at all heavy.

Second, I recommend having the 'smith round off those sharp trigger edges that can pinch your hand. This is a good idea on all Ruger double action revolvers.

I'm thinking about getting a .357 SP101 with a suitable rig for IWB carry. Load with Rem 125 gr .357 Golden Sabers. That'd be a comfort to have along.

I just recently became the owner of a .357 magnum SP101 with 2.25" barrel. It's a great little shooter and I don't feel guilty carrying it around like I do with my 3rd generation Colt Detective Special. The real nice thing is that I can carry it in my Colt DS holsters. Fits perfectly. I wish I hadn't put off buying one for so long.
