Anyone have any experience with doing graphic design. I have a RKBA sticker that I want to have designed and printed. I fooled around with Adobe Illustrator today but just didn't have time to figure the whole thing out.

It's a simple design based on the OBX stickers.

Any help is much appreciated......

Edited to add: This would be for "give-aways" when we go to the General Assembly....I'm footing the bill for the whole thing.

I'm an Illustrator kind of guy, although I'll admit my primary expertise is in Photoshop and Painter. More details, please? I don't, for example, know what an OBX sticker might be—but I'm priced right.

RaetherEnt,

That site kicks butt.....their oval template was exactly what I needed....THANKS!

Standing Wolf,

Thanks a bunch for the offer, but the template for this simple design was sufficient for what I needed. I'll keep you in mind if I need something more worth your time :D

BTW....if you check out the website linked above and scroll to the bottom where it says 4X6 ovals that's what I meant by the OBX sticker.....somehow that translates to Outer Banks to folks around here

An "OBX" sticker is a trendy little sticker that originated in the Outer Banks as a tourist souvenier. They've become quite popular on the east coast and are constantly copied by towns, municipalities, beach resorts, etc.

I don't know if it's an east coast thing really, but here's what they look like (except Norton already ripped off the design!) They're about 4" x 6".

This is just a preliminary idea; it hasn't been run past the board of directors at Maryland Shall Issue yet.....

I dont believe that this started with the OBX stickers. I remember my grandmother having the german D (same design) in pictures from before I was born, so I would assume that it started elsewhere.

You know, I did a whole run of those a couple years back.. RKBA, II, 2A.. some with various weapons and suchlke with 'em.. let me go through my hard drive and see what I got.. since it's for this "give-away" thing I'll send you the eps files gratis, if you like. :)

Oh yeah -- nice work!

Any of these look like something you could use?

Kaylee,

Those are all great stickers.

We're going to specifically try to get the one made that Spot77 posted. It's to promote MD Shall Issue, the organization working towards reforming the CCW process in MD.

Thank you for the offer!

No, it certainly didn't start with the OBX sticker.

My friend's mom had the "D" on their car from when they took a family trip to Germany and took their car with them. I think it had something to do with the process of legally driving their US car over there.

Of course, now they are just another fashion accessory.

Ah...of course Wiki has the answer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plate#International_codes

Thanks for the history lesson guys :p I can honestly say I've learned something today...

I guess everyone around here knows them as OBX stickers because every VW and Jeep seems like it has one

Hmm, great find mzmtg! I had no idea that they actually served a purpose!

Skeptic,

Will do.....in case I forget (they say the memory is the 2nd thing to go), look out for a thread here and at mdshooters.com

In New England that common sticker is "ACK" which is that code for Ackerly airport, which I think is on Nantucket.

Harry, that is darned cool

We have GOT to meet some time this legislative session while in Annapolis....first round is on me. :D
