JPFO ALERT: Part II of BATFE Hearings

Part II of the Congressional hearings on BATFE enforcement
at Virginia gun shows will take place at 2pm EST on
February 28. You can find an archive of Part I at

alert on the BATFE hearings is available at

As before, the hearings will be webcast. You can find the
webcast information at
http://judiciary.house.gov/schedule.aspx and clicking on
the date of February 28.

We ask that you pay particular attention to who would dare
to defend this rogue agency, who tries to cover up for
their arrogance, and who tries to "compromise" (read:
"betray") gun owner rights. We're also interested in
discovering whether this hearing -- which is rumored to be
the ATF's response to the original hearing -- will allow
the ATF more time (remember, in the previous hearing, the
witnesses were repeatedly told that there was "going to be
a vote at 5:30" and to "keep it to 5 minutes or less").

Please share this alert with the millions of other gun
owners in the US and ask them to watch the proceedings. Do
your "representatives" indeed represent YOU?

JPFO ALERT: WE WARNED YOU

In our past alerts concerning the BATFE Congressional
hearings ( http://www.jpfo.org/alert20060213.htm ), we told
you to keep your eyes open and watch for betrayal. Pay
attention to who defends or justifies the actions of the
BATFE. Look for "compromises" that only compromise YOUR
rights.

Not surprisingly, we were right to be concerned.

The hearings, originally scheduled for 2pm EST today, were
quietly rescheduled to 2:30pm. Additionally, the webcast
was dropped, although as of this writing, the link to it is
still on the Judiciary web site
( http://judiciary.house.gov/schedule.aspx ). Callers to
the Judiciary received the explanation that the hearing was
"...scheduled in a room that did not have webcast
equipment."

[We were also reassured that "...the Chairman supports the
Second Amendment." Of course, so does Charles Schumer (
http://www.jpfo.org/2nd-setup.htm ). The real question is,
"How MUCH does the Chairman support it?"]

Although the Judiciary promises that the written testimony
will be on the site
( http://judiciary.house.gov/oversight.aspx?ID=216 ) by 5pm
EST today, we will have no accurate record of what actually
transpired. The testimony, after all, was submitted earlier
and does not necessarily reflect the actual testimony. It
also does not cover the question and answer period
following the testimony.

Due to this "mishap", we have successfully been prevented
from seeing and hearing our government justify actions
which cannot ethically BE justified (it should be
fascinating to see if any alleged "pro-gun" groups try to
tell us what great friends we have in Congress!).

It's time to "Boot the BATFE," as well as anyone who would
dare defend this rogue agency. Go to

This is really disappointing, as I tried several times to get the link to work and was looking forward to watching it. Please keep us updated on any news.
 
Can we not file a freedom of info thingy. Surely these kinds of hearings are recorded in the record somewhere as evey word said in Congress is kept. Can we not find out that way???????????

Forget The Congressional record, for that document allows for "the expansion of remarks", meaning that some member can insert INTO THE RECORD, things he or she did not actually say.

The JPFO alert appearing in this discussion makes reference to "the record". If what they say turns out to be correct, the picture appeard dim, respecting finding out exactly what was said, and by whom. Tinfoil hats notwithstanding, there is a poor smell to this.
 
JPFO. I'm not jewish and I like these guys a lot.
Like a second NRA with less money, more balls sharper teeth and less to lose.
Any time some thing anti gun happens these guys go :cuss: and I like that.
I'm glad to say I'll be going to the richmond gun show.

It's not like I haven't been photographed, finger printed and had my back round fully checked several times in the last 4 years.

Earlier this evening, I e-mailed House Judiciary Committee, asking how come the 28 Feb. hearings were NOT web cast, while those of 15 Feb were.

I also inquired concerning the availability of a FULL TEXT version of the 28 Feb hearings, where/when I might find same if available, and if not available, why.

Frankly, I do NOT expect and sort of sentient response, however in the event that I get one, I will post same for the passing interest of any who chose to read it. Given that blue is not my best color, I won't hold my breath waiting for the above mentioned response, and I suggest that nobody else should either, even though some might look good in blue.
